Introducing Loes. The Dutchwoman loves sports. She grew up playing football against her brother and the other boys in the neighborhood. She took swim lessons, did gymnastics and rode horses. She fell in love with ice skating as a teenager and used running, rollerblading and cycling as cross-training during the summer months. Eventually, the speeds and distances she could cover on her bike convinced her that cycling was her calling.
The 31-year-old has an undergraduate degree in Sports & Physical Activity from the School of Human Movement & Sports in Zwolle. She spreads the gospel of cycling in local schools teaching mountain bike clinics and fondly recalls the place cycling held in her own secondary school days.
Loes has been a long-time regular on the Dutch National Team and happily brings international flair to her primarily Australian squad.
I like the Aussie style. It gives a distinct feel to the team.
