Scott Athlete Chris Brader, who became 4th at “Ironman Regensburg” just 4 weeks ago, showed again an impressive race performance and his exceptional fighting spirit, even if he finally missed his first victory at an Ironman for just 13 little seconds.

Nino Schurter WorldCup Winner 2010! http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/bike/2643/nino_schurter_worldcup_winner_2010 Mon, 30 Aug 2010 2:48:25 -0600 What a day!

The world cup final in Windham, NY, ended for the SCOTT-Swisspower Team better than ever! With the 2nd place of Nino Schurter, Florian Vogel in 3rd and 21st place of Patrik Gallati (2nd best U23 rider) SCOTT-Swisspower not only won the world cup team ranking at the Windham WC, even more important, Nino Schurter is the new world cup champion 2010!

Florian Vogel moved up two spots ending up in 4th and Patrik Gallati in 5th overall (U23). With the overall title Nino not only sets a new highlight in his career, he also broke a record again by winning worlds and world cup at the young age of 24. Not even Miguel Martinez or Julien Absalon was so young getting their titles.

Tight in points

Before the final round it was still very unclear who is going to take the crown. Schurter, Absalon and Kulhavy where tight in points.

Absalon was out for the overall after lap one by getting a flat tire. An unusual big group with the Swiss armada including Schurter, Vogel, Sauser and Flückiger, plus Kulhavy (CZE), Stander (RSA), Hermida (ESP) and Fumic (GER) stayed together 2/3 of the race. In the last lap it was a battle in between Schurter, Vogel, Sauser and Kulhavy. European champion Kulhavy was the fastest to the finish line. Nino secured his overall title by finishing 2nd, followed by Vogel who came in superb 3rd place.

Milestone

The 2010 performance of team SCOTT-Swisspower is a milestone. Even the boys reached a lot this year they are still hungry for more at next weekend’s world championship in Mt. St. Anne, Canada. In the shape they are right now, they don’t have to be afraid of anyone. Tough, the competition is so tight these days; it takes a perfect race to win one of the medals.

Jonas Hunziker 3rd at World Champs http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/wintersport/2634/jonas_hunziker_3rd_at_world_champs Thu, 26 Aug 2010 5:27:47 -0600  SCOTT Rider Jonas Hunziker from Switzerland impressed the judges at last week’s FIS Junior Slopestyle World Championships in New Zealand. After being second after qualification Jonas had trouble getting enough speed during the finals. Nevertheless  he made sure he was noticed thanks to a very clean second run and a solid double cork, which earned him the third place at the end.  “Getting the bronze medal at the world championships just behind riders like Bobby Brown and Gus Kenworthy is incredibly satisfying. I’m definitely going into the upcoming season with a heavily optimistic feeling!”

Jonas had stayed in New Zealand for a few weeks prior to the Junior World Championships. Training and participating in various contests with the Swiss freeski team helped him to get in shape for the World Champs. “Being here for a couple of weeks apparently paid off”, he says, “as I was able to ride a lot and learn a new double cork that ended up getting me on the third place.”

Lorraine Huber third in NZ http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/wintersport/2633/lorraine_huber_third_in_nz Thu, 26 Aug 2010 3:33:44 -0600 SCOTT  European Teamrider Lorraine Huber from Austria took home third place at last weeks NZ Freeski Open Big Mountain Event, a Freeride World Tour Qualifier (FWQ) in Treble Cone , New Zealand.

Despite the fog and conditions that were not at their best due to firm snow, Lorraine was able to pull off a solid run, leaving most of her fellow competitors behind her. As most other riders she opted for a more technical line in the rocky and steep terrain of the Motatapu Chutes at Treble Cone. That decision turned out to be good as Lorraine was able to lay down a fast but very technical run.

Lorraine Huber third after New Zealand Olympian Mitchey Greig and the six time winner Janina Kuzuma

With another good finish at the Export Gold Extreme, a three star FWQ, at Mt. Ruapehu, Lorraine will have a very good chance at winning the NZ Freeride Series, which would get her a Wild Card entry for the Freeride World Tour stop in Lake Tahoe, USA.

Martin wins TT and overall at Eneco http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/bike/2632/martin_wins_tt_and_overall_at_eneco Wed, 25 Aug 2010 1:02:57 -0600 Already the fastest at the time trial's intermediate checkpoint, Martin finally came close to averaging 50 kilometres an hour on the short but very technical course, which he completed with a time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds.

The Eneco Tour is Martin's first overall win in a ProTour course and his fifth of the 2010 season.

"Winning the last time trial is a truly perfect way of ending the race, and it will keep me really motivated for the final part of the year," Martin said. "It's a great feeling to have taken such an important win, and I'm now on track for my next few targets."

"I'll ease back a little bit now, and then start my final build-up for the World Championships Time Trial in Australia with a ride in the Tour of Britain. I can't say what will happen in the World Championships, and it'll be hard to beat [defending champion] Fabian Cancellara, but I've been working hard on my time trialling and we'll see how it goes."

A day earlier, Andre Greipel took his second stage victory at this year's Eneco Tour on SCOTT FO1 project bike.

Like the rest of his teammates, Greipel worked hard all day to help Martin defend his race lead on the hilly stage in the Ardennes but still had the speed to win the sprint in Heers.

"This is a very special victory for me," Greipel said proudly. "It was a hard stage and not really suited to the sprinters. I was seriously struggling to stay in the peloton after working to help Toy Martin hold the lead. With 10km to go to the finish, I went back to the team car and they told me to save myself for the sprint. I was really hurting but fortunately I had a little bit left and it was enough to win."

Florian Vogel wins on Scale 29er http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/bike/2631/florian_vogel_wins_on_scale_29er Mon, 23 Aug 2010 1:10:19 -0600

Ready for worlds
Florian Vogel and Nino Schurter are ready fort he big show down at world cup finals and world championships! At the Racer Bikes Cup in Muttenz, Florian won the well-attended final round of the cup riding on his brand new SCOTT Scale 29er. He beat Ralph Näf by 11 seconds.
Nino Schurter, also riding a 29er, outsprinted Absalon again for third place.

First victory of a 29er bike
The 29er wave arrived in Europe. With the super lightweight 949-gram 29er frame, SCOTT is ready for this market and again set a benchmark that is reason enough for the team riders to give it a try.
The result is impressive. After riding his 29er for two days only, Florian takes home a sweet victory over a strong field.

The race
The course was fast, the race tactical. 8 riders, including SCOTT pilots Vogel, Schurter and Gallati stayed together until two laps to go. After a crash of Schurter, Ralph Näf and Florian Vogel escaped. Half a lap to go Flo gained a few seconds on Ralph, enough to win his second race within a month. Patrik Gallati showed he is hot for worlds as well. He stayed with the best until the end, finishing in 7th, which made him the U23 winner.

Count down
The count down has started. This Saturday in Windham, New York, Nino tries to win the overall world cup title for the first time. He is tight with Absalon and Khulavy. But believes in his chance. Besides the world cup he wants to defend his world champion title the week after in Mt. St. Anne, Canada. The world champion jersey is also Florian Vogel’s dream. That he can win, he proved again this weekend.
Roger Walder and Andri Frischknecht finished in third, but won the overall title in their category. In addition SCOTT-Swisspower won the 2010 team ranking.

GP13 Brazil http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/motosports/2630/gp13_brazil Mon, 23 Aug 2010 0:54:47 -0600 MX2: Bad luck for Paulin

Second in the qualifying race of the Brazilian GP behind Marvin Musquin, Gautier Paulin was among the fastest riders on the new track of Campo Grande and was expecting another podium. Fourth at the beginning of race one, Gautier crashed during the third circulation and retired with a damaged bike and later got a fourth place in race two. German Ken Roczen was the fastest rider on the track, and beats twice Marvin Musquin who got two holeshot but lost his duels with his main rival. MX1: Podium for Max Nagl

Max Nagl claimed in Brazil his sixth podium of the season, thanks to a fourth and a third position during the thirteenth round of the series. The KTM rider grabbed the holeshot in the second race, but Desalle, Philippaerts and Cairoli passed him and raced for the win. Third in the opening moto behind Philippaerts and Cairoli, Clement Desalle was strongly leading the second heat and was the virtual winner of the GP when his bike stopped three laps before the finish flag. An electrical problem cost him the overall victory, and offered to Antonio Cairoli his seventh GP win of the season and the MX1 World title. The Italian is crowned two GP’s before the end of the season, and Desalle will now have to secure his runner-up position during the last two GP’s in Netherlands and Italy.

Adventure on two wheels in Europe http://www.scott-sports.com/de_de/news/bike/2618/adventure_on_two_wheels_in_europe Tue, 10 Aug 2010 9:42:03 -0600
SARDINIA, ITALY

We were very lucky and fortunate to lead a week long training camp in the south-east corner of Sardinia, Italy. Wow ... I couldn't have dreamt of a more amazing place and ideal training location! We met such a vibrant and fun bunch of people in the process there I am sure will be friends for life. We experienced some of the best swimming, biking and running locations we have trained in anywhere in the world not to mention the most picturesque! The pictures say it all .....

LAKE COMO, ITALY

We arrived in Milan and drove one hour north to a region we have both always wanted to visit, Lake Como. We entered the mountainous area via the township of Lecco and stopped for the afternoon in Bellagio ... and never left!

It would be a crime for us to come here and not ride our bikes so in the morning Amanda and I jumped on the trusty Scott Plasma 2 bikes and rode along the lake and up one of the most famous climbs in all of Europe to the Madonna Ghisallo (above Bellagio) Wow ... anyone that loves their cycling, this is an absolute MUST DO!

The pictures do not do Lake Como justice. An amazing place to ride a bike!

FRIBOURG, SWITZERLAND

Our next port of call was the city of Fribourg in the center of Switzerland and we paid a visit to our bike sponsor, Scott at their World Headquarters in Givisiez. Marino Vanhoenacker fresh off his 7.52 (4th fastest in history) Ironman win in Austria also join us for a preview of the new Scott Plasma 3 TT bike. What a MACHINE!

I am really grateful to be part of the Scott family and we had a really fun day meeting the team in office and taking the bikes for a ride around the beautiful Swiss countryside!

VALLEE DE JOUX, SWITZERLAND

Amanda and I wanted to check out the Vallee before we flew back to the USA as a little bit of recognizance for a future European training base. The region didn't disappoint as we spent several days swimming, cycling and running in the ideal triathlon training grounds. The big bonus was the Tour de France was passing by during the week we were there and it was an easy 40km ride to check out both the finish of the Station Des Rousse stage (won by Sylvain Chavanel) and the start of the big mountain stage Station Des Rousse to Morzine - Avoriaz (won by Andy Schleck).

We got some good training down in Vallee de Joux and look forward to making more trips here in the future. It was the perfect place to end a great 6 weeks in Europe! ]]>
