First race, first win for SCOTT Swisspower

13 mars 2012
Just one week before the first round of the World Cup in Pietermaritzburg/South-Africa, SCOTT Swisspower athletes Nino Schurter and Florian Vogel showed their high ambitions for the Olympic year by placing first and third respectively during the Cascade-Classic-Race last weekend.

Nino and local Burry Stander fought a hard battle for the win. Nino saved his energy throughout the race and accelerated to maintain the lead in the final lap. In the end he took his first season victory with a lead of 6 seconds before the South African and 45 seconds before his teammate Florian.

Winners on the Podium

"I felt good during the trainings but I wasn’t certain of my strength compared to the other riders. But everything turned out good and I’m really satisfied with my victory", explained Nino.
Here’s what Nino had to say after his race:

Florian Vogel was also happy with his results: "It felt good to be on the podium in the first race of the season and gives me confidence for the World Cup. This is what really counts on the way to the Olympics in London this year", Florian said.

Moritz Milatz, Patrick Gallati and Lukas Flückiger were the next to cross the finish line after the winning trio.
