SCOTT at the Minneapolis Supercross and 1-2 Finish in the National Hare and Hound Series

17 avril 2013

The 14th round of the FIM Monster Energy Supercross tour landed in Minneapolis, MN last weekend.  Luckily for race fans, the Metrodome provided cover from the elements, as snow blanketed the surrounding areas just days before the event.

450SX Class

Andrew Short

SCOTT goggle athlete Andrew Short has been extremely consistent all year long, rarely finishing out of the top ten.  In Minnesota, Shorty qualified for the main event with a 3rd in the second 450SX heat race.  In the main event, he went on to finish a solid 6th place and finds himself 7th in the point standings heading to the next round.

Trey Canard

After landing on the box last week in Texas, SCOTT goggle athlete Trey Canard was looking to take that podium momentum into Minneapolis.  Canard finished 4th in the first qualifying heat race and set his sights on the main event.  Trey didn't get a great jump off the gate in the main event and then an early tip over cost him another trip to the podium.  Canard would soldier on and worked his way back to a respectable 7th by the checkered flag.  Canard sits 6th in the point standings.

Phillip Nicoletti

Phillip Nicoletti snagged a spot in the 450SX main event with an 8th place finish in the first heat race.  Phil had an unfortunate crash in the main but was still able to finish 19th on the night.

250SX East Coast Class

Tyler Bowers

SCOTT goggle athlete Tyler Bowers was looking to improve on his results from the week prior, where he finished a career-best 4th.  In his qualifying heat race Bowers finished a strong 2nd, giving him a good gate pick for the 250SX main event.  In the main, Tyler got off the gate well and rounded the first turn in the top 5.  Bowers went to work and was battling hard with the front group when he banged bars with a fellow competitor and crashed.  Bowers was able to regroup and still managed to finish a solid 5th overall.

Levi Kilbarger

Levi Kilbarger has managed to qualify for multiple main events this year and Minnesota was no different.  Kilbarger qualified with a 6th in the first 250SX heat race.  In the 250SX main event, Kilbarger crossed the finish line in 15th at the flag.

SCOTT athlete Adam Gulley qualified for his second 250SX main event of the year in Minneapolis.  Gulley qualified with an 8th place finish in the first 250SX heat race and in the main Gulley finished a well-deserved 16th overall.

The next round of Monster Energy Supercross takes place in Seattle, WA next weekend April 20-21.  The 250SX West Coast series picks back up after a long hiatus and the East Coast series takes a two week break and will commence once again at the season finale in Las Vegas, where both coasts will square off against each other.

Mullins and Bobbitt go 1-2 in Louisiana

Charlie Mullins

The 4th round of the National Hare and Hound series kicked off under rainy skies at Forest Hill, Louisiana last weekend.  Luckily the rain subsided by race time, but by then the course was soaked and muddy.  The conditions didn't deter SCOTT goggle athlete Charlie Mullins, who took his SCOTT Hustle Goggles, fitted with the SCOTT Film System, and went on to win all six special tests en route to the overall win.  Mullins now leads the points chase by 11 points.

Russell Bobbitt

SCOTT goggle athlete Russell Bobbitt also benefited from clear vision as he navigated the difficult, rain-soaked course to finish 2nd overall.  Russell maintains 2nd in the points.

The next round of the Recluse National Enduro series will take place April 28th in West Point, TN.

Kurt Caselli wins second AMA Hare and Hound in a row

SCOTT goggle athlete Kurt Caselli won his second consecutive Hare and Hound National Championship round in Lucerne Valley, CA.  Caselli dominated the competition and won by almost 5 minutes over second place.  Kurt now leads the series over previous points leader David Kamo.  SCOTT goggle athlete Kamo had a high speed crash early on in the race and had to settle for 16th overall.  Kamo now sits 3rd in the points chase.

The next H&H round is April 27th and once again takes place in Lucerne Valley, CA.
