TEAM SCOTT AT THE TOUR DE TIROL

22 septembre 2011
Source from www.scott-sports.com Last week the French Trail Running Team, which includes Pascal Giguet who came 2nd at this year’s Maxi Race in Annecy, as well as a number of fellow international SCOTT Athletes, confirmed their participation in October’s Tour de Tirol race, a 3-day event that includes the "Kaisermarathon" on the second day. The "Kaisermarathon" is considered the blue riband event of the Tour. This unique marathon is a winding route through several mountainside villages to the top of "Hohe Salve", the highest peak in the ski belt. The terrain is varied and the climb is around 2.000m. Hands, knees and every last scrap of willpower are required to finish, but the views from the mountain-top finish will take your breath away – if you have any left. After another strong winter and some very good results at the beginning of this year, Pascal was in great form and ready for the UTMB at Chamonix. Well known in the trail running circuit as a frontrunner, Pascal livened up the start and was present in the lead until the top of the "Col du Bonhomme" (34km). He then rapidly lost nine minutes on the lead. After 110km in very tough weather conditions he lost confidence and finally had to leave the race at "La Fouly" - with no chance of getting the cold legs moving again... One of the genuine things about Pascal is his love and passion for trail running: After stopping his race we saw him in the afternoon again around Chamonix, this time encouraging the elite runners as well as the amateurs on their way to the finish line. It was no surprise then that he and his young guns were convinced to join the SCOTT Crew at the Tour de Tirol! "To be honest, this time it was not so easy as I expected with Pascal" says David Borrmann, PM Running at SCOTT. "But when I told Pascal about the registration of some well-known athletes in long distance running and especially David Girardet, another Scottie and winner of the 100km in Biel in 2010, he was hooked!" For sure, these two guys will have a lot of fun and will both run a great Tour de Tirol! Pull on your running shoes and join the SCOTT crew and athletes at the TOUR DE TIROL!
