Sage Canaday wins Lake Sonoma 50 Mile

17 avril 2013

Sun Valley, ID, April 17, 2013 - With near-perfect conditions and one of the most competitive fields seen this year, the stage was set for SCOTT athlete Sage Canaday to have a record-breaking day.  Canaday, running in the SCOTT T2 Kinabalu, ran against the likes of Max King and Cameron Clayton to take the win in a time of 6:14:55, setting a new course record.

Max King and Cameron Clayton ran hard from the start, with the duo opening a small gap on the field in the race's first dozen miles.  In the next dozen miles, they stretched that lead into five minutes ahead of Sage Canaday and Chris Vargo, with a large group close behind.  By mile 30, King had put 75 seconds on Clayton, and Canaday had closed the gap down to four and a half minutes.  A mere 8 miles later, Canaday had passed both runners and put 3 minutes on King.  Both Clayton and King were hurting.  As it turns out, King was hurting worse.  While Clayton passed King en route to the finish, Canaday sped off to a course record finish of 6:14:55, improving on Dakota Jones' time of 6:17:27 from 2012.

Crossing the line in 5th place, SCOTT athlete Meghan Arbogast put in an impressive performance, finishing in a time of 8:15:58.  Arbogast was the oldest competitor inside the top five, showing that age has not only made her stronger, but undoubtedly faster.  A huge congratulations goes out to Sage for his win and course record and to Meghan for her fifth place finish at the 2013 Lake Sonoma 50 Mile.

SCOTT Sports would also like to take the opportunity to give our condolences to the friends and family who suffered losses and injury during the bombing that occurred during the Boston Marathon.
