Victory and new PB for David Girardet at the 100km in Biel/Bienne

18 juin 2012

After his victory in 2010 and 2nd place in 2011, David Girardet underlined his ‘serious contender’ status in the 2012 Swiss Champs with a great win and new PB at the 100km in Biel/Bienne.

David proved too strong for all other competitors: After starting the race in a smart and steady pace, he took the decision for an accelerated tempo at around 10km before the finish line. Even if he missed just for a couple of minutes his 2nd goal, finishing this 100km race below 7 hours, he showed again his high potential and his mental strength. David stayed concentrated until the end of the race even if he was racing on his own the last 10km. The only 22-year old Florian Vieux, who finished finally in a very impressive 2nd position, wasn’t able to keep the pace with the former duathlon and triathlon champion.

David Giardet

“The race was hard! The first 25 km I did run with two guys, after I had to run until km 55 alone with 2min advantage, but at km 55 two other competitors arrived very fast and passed me quickly.
I tried to catch them and afterwards I stayed with only one of these runners because the other had to slow down. At km 90 I took the decision to accelerate and I left Florian. I just wanted to be the first at the finish line!  Thanks God to give me power.” said David Girardet with a strong air of satisfaction with his accomplishment. His next big race and goal is the marathon in Frankfurt, October 28th.
