Pinot wins Queen Stage at Criterium du Dauphine

13 June 2016

Thibaut Pinot proves yet again that he is one of the best climbers out there.

Although stage 6 of the Criterium du Dauphine was quite short with only 141km, the topography of the course with two early climbs, the 19km Col de la Madeleine in the middle and then the final 12km climb up to the finish in Méribel promised a great day of racing.

A group of ten riders reached the final climb up to Méribel together. Romain Bardet attacked early, with 10km still to go and only his long-time French rival Pinot could close the gap. Both of them worked together well to keep the chasers at distance. Determined to win and with still 3km to go Bardet attacked but was not able to drop Pinot. It was Pinot who had more energy left in the sprint and transferred all of his power to the pedals to take the win.
