MOTOCROSS MXGP OF ITALY 2016

GP8: Trentino (Arco) - Podium and heat win for Ferrandis

For the first time this season a rider beats Herlings in a MX2 race, and of course it was Dylan Ferrandis who was the first to defeat the leader of the series. Winner of the first heat, Ferrandis claimed his second podium in a row in Arco di Trento (Italy) with another second place overall.italy-scott-155379It was the first time this season that there was such close racing for the win in the MX2 class, and twice during the weekend the young Frenchman had close battles with Herlings. Winner of the qualifying race on Saturday, Dylan did it again on Sunday in the first race but lost all his chances of GP win at the start of race two. “ We had some great battles with Jeffrey this weekend and it was fun to have such close racing, I think it’s good for everyone. The track wasn’t easy on Saturday with the rain, and today also it was rough so I’m happy to get a podium on a track that I don’t really like. In the qualifying race and again today in the first race it was great to get a holeshot; it helped me to choose my lines and keep the pace. The second race wasn’t as good. I did a wheelie out of the gate and lost everything there; I was outside the top ten but I recovered to third. It was tough to pass and I used a lot of energy to come back to third behind Jonass. I’m happy that my shoulder is not painful and I feel improvements every weekend, ” said Dylan who is back in the top ten of the series. Teammate Petar Petrov raced with a broken thumb, and scored some valuable points for the series with an eleventh position.italy-scott-gp8-155375Back to racing and entering for the first time a MXGP race, Jordi Tixier did a good comeback with an eleventh position in the GP, while Shaun Simpson scored an eighth place to remains eight in the series.italy-scott-gp8-155378italy-scott-gp8-155381Once more some young Scott Athletes shine in the European series as Stephen Rubini and Thomas Kjer Olsen got an overall win in their respective class. Rubini won his first 125 round this season, while Kjer Olsen got his second win and is strongly leading the series. The EMX250 was an ‘all Scott affair’ with American Darian Sanayei and Spaniard Jorge Prado in second and third positions.italy-kjer-olsen-gp8-155374italy-scott-gp8-155383The GP series will have a break next weekend, and will return to action in Spain on May 29th.
