The Ransom has redefined the all-mountain category by increasing travel and reducing weight. The patented Equalizer TC shock offers three travel modes at your fingertips. Using the TracLoc lever, choose between lockout mode, Traction mode providing 90mm (3.5in) of travel, and full travel mode giving you 165mm (6.5in) of smooth travel. Locked out, the Ransom’s head angle is optimized for climbing. Increasing the travel allows the bottom bracket to sag and progressively slackens the head angle for increased descending confidence and control.

Equalizer TC Rear Shock
The Equalizer TC is a unique rear shock concept designed by SCOTT. It features two separate positive air chambers for the two travel modes offered (100mm, 165mm), and an OTS (Oil Transfer System) type damper with a fixed piston. Traditional dampers use a through-shaft design in which the piston is pushed through the oil. The OTS system pushes the oil from the main chamber into either air chamber via a fixed piston. This reduces heat and allows for dual travel modes.
Pulling upwards n the rebound knob engages the Power Stabilizer™ for bob-free pedaling. This feature allows greater pedaling efficiency while managing larger bump absorption.
Pushing downward on the Power Stabilizer returns it to its original position. This provides a fully active and sensitive rear suspension that can manage bumps of all sizes. -
CR1 Carbon Technology
Lightest bike in class, complete 13.56 grams (29.9 lbs). Frame weight 3080 grams (6.8 lbs) including rear shock. Optimized tube shapes for better torsional rigidity and steering precision. Ultra high-impact resistant down tube and SDS dampening system for better shock absorption and less rider fatigue. Sealed cable routing throughout.

Traction Control (TC) lever
The Ransom also delivers three different travel options at your fingertips via a handlebar mounted Traction Control switch. By utilizing Scott’s Equalizer rear shock technology, you can pick whichever mode is most suitable for your current trail conditions.
Traction Control options:
Lockout mode : the rear shock is locked, same as climbing or riding on a hardtail.
TC mode, activating up to 100mm (4 in) of travel and giving you a slacker bike geometry than in Lockout mode. The suspension sags and the compression damping opens, delivering fantastic single track or race bike performance.
All travel mode to deliver up to 165mm (6.5 in) of active travel and slacking the geometry further, lowering your center of gravity and slowing your steering input for confidence on high speed descents. -
Truvativ Hammerschmidt 2-Shift System
Imagine riding your Scott mountain bike without a front derailleur, just one single chainring with the usual nine cogs, yet still having the choice between 18 different gears. This is, in a nutshell, what the revolutionary transmission called HammerSchmidt does for your bike.
HammerSchmidt is based on the classic principle of a planetary gear system. -
Fully adjustable saddle height
While climbing you want the seatpost up in a normal position for ideal power transfer, and when you hit the downhill it’s nice to lower the saddle. The Ransom allows for full saddle height adjustment with its special swing arm design. You can lower the seat all the way without having to cut the seat post because the swing arm has clearance designed into it. Most interrupted seat tube designs do not allow for seatpost adjustments.

Co-Developed Suspension Module (CSM)
The multiple linkage system was “Co-Developed” specifically to work with the Equalizer TC shock system. The Ransom is extremely efficient while pedaling and offers very sensitive suspension action. High quality, double sealed industrial bearings are used at all pivot points for durability and precise suspension function. Enclosed cables throughout ensure smooth shifting. CR1 carbon seat stays and 6061 alloy chain stays save weight and maximize stiffness.
-
IDS™ Interchangeable Dropout System
The new dropout and hanger interface increases rear triangle stiffness. Also provides improved shifting, cornering capabilities and rear end stability. The system can also be interchanged from a standard QR, MAXLE or a 12mm thru axle for added strength. Provides easy replacement of a broken derailleur hanger.
