Job Description:

SCOTT USA is looking for someone who not only has the passion for an active outdoor lifestyle, but someone who can design apparel for this product category.

This position will have full ownership of their given line and will be responsible for the management & development. This role requires ownership and entrepreneurship over the collection from start to finish. This individual will work out of our Tacoma, WA office.

This position reports to the Scott USA Design Director and Product Manager in Tacoma, WA.

Primary Job Duties:

• Initiate and interpret new product concepts to meet the needs of our customers, resulting in sales and growth for the company. Present design concepts including fabrication, style definition, color and features for review by Design Director. Manage design projects and work with team members to ensure that deadlines are met to reach company goals.

• Research the global marketplace and interpret consumer and market needs as they relate to technical outdoor sportswear. Includes researching fabric, color, and design concepts and collecting feedback from customers and sales representatives. Attend selected trade shows for market research and attend sales meetings to gain thorough understanding of customer/product requirements.

• Propose design ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, style definition, functional features, fit requirements and design details. Refine concepts as directed by Design Director and/or Product Manager. Work within target prices as much as possible; coordinate efforts with Production/Sourcing to assure most effective results.

• Provide sketches and line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and detail sketches as necessary. Provide design/concept boards to communicate design and color direction, and present at Design Reviews.

• Work closely with Materials Manager to define new areas/fabrics to source. Identify fabrics, trims, and garment components as needed on a seasonal basis. Research and propose trims, graphic applications, prints and/or patterns if applicable, and label designs by working closely with Product Development and/ or Graphic Designers. Communicate fabric and trims information to team members.

• Participate in prototype process for Technical Sportswear. Includes initiating sample requests by working closely with Technical Designer/ Quality control manager, reviewing samples and directing revisions as needed throughout the development cycle. Attend fit sessions and categorical team meetings as needed to facilitate process, revisions, and finalization of products.

• Propose color palette for assigned category’s and participate in color process, including defining lab dip needs and color-way development on a style-by-style basis. Work as a team member in indentifying general color direction on seasonal basis. Work to assure all color requirements are met on a timely basis.

• Works closely with overseas manufacturers by consistent communication and periodic visits to facilitate sample making and production.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in apparel design, fabric arts, or related field.

• Associate’s degree with 2+ years related work experience acceptable in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

• Two or more years garment design/development experience in the apparel industry.

• Experience with outdoor industry and apparel category. Possess thorough knowledge of apparel design and development with technical attributes of performance; product materials and production techniques also specific to active apparel.

• Possess knowledge of merchandising procedures.

• Possess knowledge of computer design software as well as the talent and ability to perform free hand drawings.

Wintersports Marketing Coordinator – Scott USA

Scott USA is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of Wintersports Marketing Coordinator.

Job Description:

Scott USA is currently searching for and experienced Wintersports Marketing Coordinator to work out of our North American Headquarters in Sun Valley, ID. Primary responsibility will be to drive the Scott brand in the North American Wintersport market.

This position reports to the Scott USA Marketing Manager in Sun Valley, ID.

Primary Job Duties:

• Work with global wintersports marketing team to develop an annual marketing plan.

• Develop public relations and communications strategy for hardgoods and softgoods.

• Grow and develop relationships with media and handle all aspects of the media relations process.

• Structure ad plan (coordinated with SCOTT Europe) and handle all wintersport ad purchasing.

• Responsible for all PR including product media launches, PR support for consumer events and other key brand initiatives.

• Write catalog copy for winter hardgoods, softgoods and spring/summer apparel catalogs.

• Generate new content for Scott wintersport website, including bios, interviews, photographs, etc.

• Assist with the daily maintenance of the wintersports site on scott-sports.com.

• Weekly editing of event coverage, interviews and dealer newsletters.

• Organize and maintain product for athletes and teams.

• Filter sponsorship video requests, event sponsorship proposals.

• Coordinate catalogs, press releases, brochures and generate marketing calendars.

• Plan and monitor catalog, promotional material, advertising budgets, and photoshoots.

• Preparing skis and related Scott Wintersports products for magazine testing.

• Assist in the planning of all wintersport tradeshows.

• Communicate frequently with Scott Europe.

Qualifications:

• Successful candidate must have BA or BS in Journalism, Marketing or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in action sports industry and/or public relations for a brand.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Photoshop.

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Skiing background a must for this position.

• Strong communication and interaction skills.
