My name is Mike Hopkins and I am a professional Freeskier and Moutain biker. I reside in a little place called Rossland, British Columbia, which is hidden in the midst of the Kootenay mountain range. I have called Rossland home for the last 15 years and still to this day (even after traveling the world) have yet to find a community that better suits the needs of a freeride athlete.
Rossland has a population of about fourthousand, so as you can imagine you have to find things to entertain yourself with. For me it was plain and simple, skiing in the winter and biking in the summer. I spent the majority of my time with my brother ski racing and competing on the BC Cup Series. When I finished high school, I headed to University where I spent more time on the ski hill than in the lecture hall. I pulled the plug on school in my second year to compete on the freeski circuit. From that point until now everything has been a blur.
I now spend my year filming, shooting, and competing throughout both the bike and ski season. I get to work with great companies and travel the world doing what I love, so naturally I am a pretty happy guy.
