Maurice Clavel Joins SCOTT Sports

05 January 2015

A High Potential Athlete
The 26-year old Freiburg i. B. resident stepped into the limelight during the 2014 season finishing second at the IM 70.3 European Championships in Wiesbaden and winning the Allgäu Triathlon. Clavel is under the wings of Lubos Bilek who has successfully coached Sebastian Kienle for the past 9 years. “Maurice has the physiological capacity, talent and mental strength to make it to the top,” says Bilek who is living in the same area as his pro-tégé. In 2015, Clavel will focus on the IM 70.3 European Championships in Wiesbaden (GER) and the IM 70.3 World Championships in Zell am See (AUT).

Becoming an Official Brand Ambassador
“I’m very happy and proud to join the international Triathlon Team of SCOTT Sports”, says an excited Clavel. While the 26-year old former swimmer has been racing on a SCOTT bike in the past, the official partnership with the sporting goods company has only just started. “I was successfully training and racing on Sebastian’s former Plasma 3 throughout the 2014 season. Therefore the partnership with SCOTT has been at the top of my wish list.”

Building on Existing Partnerships
Clavel will be racing on the recently introduced Plasma 5 equipped with SRAM components, Zipp wheels and a Profile Design cockpit that features an integrated storage system. Additionally, Clavel will monitor his performance on the bike with a Quarq power meter. “We have a long running partnership with SRAM/Zipp and Profile Design for our international Triathlon Team and can offer Maurice the best material there is.” says Frank Oberle, Triathlon Product Manager at SCOTT Sports.

Head-to-toe in SCOTT
Aside from the bike, SCOTT will equip Maurice Clavel with the Split aero helmet, the Vanish Evo road helmet, the RC bike wear line and the Road Premium and Tri Carbon shoes. “Triathletes in particular appreciate the fact that aside from class-leading bikes SCOTT offers a complete package of high-end products for bike riding and beyond,” says Adrian Zahnd, Bike Marketing Coordinator at SCOTT.
