REMY ABSALON WINS HIS 9TH MEGAVALANCHE

13 July 2015

It is safe to say that Rémy is a specialist when it comes to the Mégavalanche, one of the most famous and unique MTB Marathon style races in the world. 2015 was the 21st edition of the race where 2000 riders from 20 different countries participated.Irémy absalon

After a tough start during qualifying, Rémy was able to overtake several competitors finishing first in his heat, putting him in a great position for Sunday.

rémy-absalonOn Sunday, all of the riders arrived at the top of the Pic Blanc at 6:00AM and had to wait for three hours before the start. This allowed lots of time for pressure to build, but once the “Alarma” rang, it was full-throttle from there.rémy-absalonRémy had a safe start, avoiding any of the common crashes on the glacier. Having overtaken some riders at an excess of 100km/hr, Rémy soon found himself just behind the leaders. In the end it was a fight between Rémy and former teammate Thomas Lapeyrie, with the battle going back and forth and Rémy ultimately taking the win with more than 30 seconds in advance.rémy-absalon
