Jérémie Heitz silver medalist at The World Championship

30 March 2015

This year’s big Freeride grand finale took place this weekend on the mythical 3222m (10570 ft) Bec de Rosses, Switzerland. The much respected north face that has provided the stage for the Xtreme Verbier for 20 years, showed for the 20th anniversary a new challenging side on skiers left side.

With the top riders left from the cut in Alaska, Xtreme Verbier was an amazing show to watch. Great skiing in Haines, Alaska a week ago made the battles for the World Champion Title incredibly tough and the riders were all hot on the top win.

Coming into the Verbier stop SCOTT`s team rider Jérémie Heitz (SUI) had a great position as the overall 2nd men skier. After a silver medal in Haines, AK with a huge and charging line he was hungry to win on his home turf. But it was not only up to him, George Rodney (US) the current leader had to end up in 5th position for Jérémie to win.

Jérémie started with a beautiful, huge triple and then went straight for the fall-line at an amazing 125km/h. But sadly the current leader George Rodney (US) was just too hot on the title. George laid out with a big top air getting straight into the game and skied fast and strong down a technical line bringing the rookie the World Champion title.
