An under-rated all-rounder, Impey brings a host of attributes and raw strength to GreenEDGE’s lineup. After a couple of troubled seasons that saw him looking at his future in the sport, he found a lifeline in the form of Australia’s first WorldTour squad.
His recruitment to GreenEDGE has come at a pivotal time in the South African’s career and he hopes to take another step in that journey with the team. “GreenEDGE has assembled a great squad,” Impey said. “I’m hoping to get a start in one of the Grand Tours for next year and aim to have a good Ardennes Classics campaign. I’ll also be aiming for my first ever win in a WorldTour race along with going for the overall win in some of the smaller tours.”
Impey has ridden for South African squad Barloworld in the past and understands the importance of cultural aspects surrounding a team – he says that GreenEDGE will be a good fit in this aspect for many of its recruits.
"The guys from the southern hemisphere think the same and we’re all fired up to make it work; I definitely feel at home and that’s when you’ll get the best out of me."
