By Marcos Adami – Scott Brazil
Brazilian Scott Team finished 2nd overall in Argentinean Tour de San Luis
The brazilian team Scott-Marcondes César finished second overall in Argentina during the second edition of Tour San Luis, 2.2 UCI category race that gathered 200 cyclists from 30 strong teams, including the Pro Tour CSC and Saunier Duval. The Scott squad competed with CR1 bicycles. The race started on 22nd Janurary and finished on 27th January. The competition is one of the main races of the American continent, held in Cordoba region. That’s the biggest stage race in Argentina and probably the race with the best infra-structure in South America. The six-day event may was the perfect season opener for riders looking to find good condition early in the racing calendar, while avoiding the more intense competition at the Tour Down Under in Australia. The champion of 2008 edition was Martin Garrido, an Argentinean who rides for the Portuguese team Palmeiras-Resort Tavira.
Scott-Marcondes César has been leading the brazilian national cycling ranking for the past four years and was no surprise the good results in Tour de San Luis.
The brazilian team also managed to place the young Magno Prado Nazaret at fifth place (@ 1min11s) in general classification and as the Champion of Sub-23 category, who took the Sub-23 jersey after the individual time trial on 5th stage. The defending champion of last year’s Tour de San Luis, the Argentinean Jorge Giacinti, finished third overall, at 1min09s from Garrido.
Scott-Marcondes Cesar raced at Tour de San Luis with the Argentinean Jorge Giacinti, Magno Nazaret (Sub-23), Breno Sidoti, Pedro Nicacio, the twins Maurício and Fabricio Morand, the Argentinean Matias Médici and also Alex Diniz, the Champion of the last edition of Tour de Santa Catarina, a 11 stage race held in the south of Brazil.
