Edgardo Simon wins opening stage of the Tour de São Paulo
Argentina's Edgardo Simon was the fastest in the end over 20 laps at the Interlagos Race Track in São Paulo. Sponsored by Scott/Marcondes Cesar/São José dos Campos, Edgardo finished the race with the time of 1:58:29 in an amazing final sprint. Alvaro Tardaguilla crossed the line in second while Brazil's Alex Diniz (Scott/Marcondes César/São José dos Campos) was third.
The Tour of São Paulo started Sunday, April 20, and will crisscross the main roads and highways of the state, ending on Sunday, April 27 in the city of São Paulo.
“It was a great teamwork we did today, and it allowed me to win the opening stage. This course is a hard one and I only knew I could win in the last 50 meters,” said Simon.

Alex Diniz, the only Brazilian on the podium that day, said, “Starting a tour like that, in front, is really important and gives me more power and strength to keep fighting for positive results. We focused our strength on Simon and he did his job very well at the finish line.”
The Team Scott is sponsored by Scott, Marcondes César, São José dos Campos, Dádiva, Pneus Levorin, Raj, Thule, Integralmédica, Shimano, Gramado Restaurante, Construtora Oliveira Roxo, Spani Atacadista, Fizik, Technick, Viacabo, and Circuit.
