MXGP: Gundersen confirms his potential
Alessio Chiodi got the holeshot in the first heat, but teammate and SCOTT team rider Kenneth Gundersen passed him promptly and gave Yamaha and SCOTT their first win this season.

Gundersen said,:
"The first race was perfect. I had a good start, passed Chiodi and controlled it the whole way. It was a great feeling to finish first again. In the second race De Reuver cut my line at the start and I was down somewhere between 15th and 20th but then I crashed on the first lap and twisted my knee. After that I rode just to try and get as many points as I could. It is the same knee that I injured last year but it is not a big problem." (source: realmx.com)

As Tortelli struggled and crashed several times, the main contenders were Everts, Tanel Leok and Scott team rider Kevin Strijbos. Leok got great starts and put pressure on Everts for ten minutes, but unfortunately he missed a good opportunity to celebrate his first heat win. “This weekend I was able to battle with Stefan for fifteen minutes, but in the end he was stronger. When he crashed in the first race I took the lead, but I also made a mistake and finally got two second places,” said the Estonian rider. Winner of the opening heat, Kevin Strijbos, crashed early in the second race and let his teammate Steve Ramon on the final podium alongside Everts and Leok.
