Savatgy Takes the Points Lead in San Diego; Trey Canard Gets Back in the Top 5

The 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Series made it's second stop to Petco Park in San Diego this past weekend. Heat one saw both Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates on the gate together finishing second and fifth. In the main event it was Chris Alldredge who burst out to an early lead with Joey Savatgy starting in third. Savatgy made quick work to get into second on the first lap and teammates were running one-two. Unfortunately Alldredge had a mechanical problem on lap three and handed Savatgy the lead. Joey proved his strength and determination by leading the remaining thirteen laps to the victory and is now the sole points leader in the 250 West.

Justin Brayton of Team BTOsports.com KTM got out to an early lead in heat two while teammate Davi Millsaps started working his way up from third place. When the checkers flew it was Davi Millsaps continuing his streak by winning another heat race. Semi one had Autotrader.com Toyota JGR Yamaha pilot Weston Peick taking the win followed by Honda HRC rider Trey Canard, BTOsports.com KTM's Andrew Short in fourth and the final transfer spot going to Autotrader.com Toyota JGR Yamaha rider Phil Nicoletti.

The LCQ saw Rockstar Energy Factory Racing Christohpe Pourcel Take the win. The Main was a great step in the right direction for Trey canard as he ran in third place for eleven laps before finishing out the race in fifth. Weston Peick had a very solid night finishing ninth followed by Justin Brayton in tenth and Davi Millsaps eleventh. Andrew Short was in his first race back after shoulder surgery and finished a very respectable fourteenth, even after a scary heat race crash earlier in the night. Rounding out the top twenty was Christophe Pourcel in seventeenth and Phil Nicoletti with an eighteenth place finish.
