Crist Takes Gold at X Games
For the second year in a row the Crist family takes gold at the ESPN Winter X-Games. This year's festivities were held in glamorous Aspen, Colorado.
After an intense day of competition in the Men's Skier X, the Crist name is once again synonymous with X Games Gold. SCOTT USA athlete Reggie Crist won the Men's Skier X in a close race with Peter Lind. Reggie's younger brother, Zach, won the Gold in the same event at last year's Winter X Games. It looks like families that ski together win the X Games together.
After a disappointing finish at the 2001 X Games, it was Reggie's turn to blast the course. He won the first two heats in the 2001 Skier X but crashed in the finals while trying to pass French skier Enak Gavaggio. Reggie ended up finishing sixth in the competition while his younger brother Zach took the Gold.

"It's a great feeling to win especially after fracturing my pelvis last year. After Zach won last year, I was just doing my best to keep it in the family", said Reggie. This year's win is Reggie Crist's first Winter X Games medal. In 2001 he barely missed grabbing a medal when he finished a respectable fourth in the Ultracross event.

Q: What is next now that you are the Skier X champion?
A: The next project is to return to Sun Valley and begin working on the Crist brothers' segment for Warren Miller, to be shown in Fall 02.
Q: How does it feel to compete against your brother?
A: Skiing is an individual sport but it's nice to know that there is one competitor out there that actually wants you to succeed. It's kinda like having two chances to win.
Q: Who was your biggest threat during the races?
A: My brother is always tough to beat but unfortunately I never got the chance to go up against him because someone took him out at the start.
Q: What did you do to celebrate?
A: It started in the finish line with a dog pile and ended up in the bars at Aspen, so I'm told.
