SCOTT USA Athletes Medal at Olympic Games

The unforgettable 2002 Winter Olympic Games held in pristine Salt Lake City, Utah, came to a close on Sunday, February 24, in a breathtaking closing ceremony held at Rice Eccles Stadium. We are very proud of the SCOTT USA athletes that were so often on the podium and who made a big impression with their performances.

In women's alpine skiing, SCOTT USA athlete Janica Kostelic of Croatia gave an incredible performance in the Alpine Combined, winning the gold. Not yet satisfied, she medalled again, taking the silver in the women's Super-G, second only to another SCOTT USA athlete, Daniela Ceccarelli of Italy. Ceccarelli took home the gold using SCOTT poles in a picture perfect run down Snowbasin's intimidating course.

Kjetil Andre Aamodt of Norway showed his stuff by winning two gold medals in men's alpine competition. His first gold came in the Combined and the second was in the Super-G. Kjetil was decked out in full SCOTT USA gear.

The French team showed the world how they do it by taking home four medals. Carole Montillet won the women's Downhill using SCOTT poles. On the men's side, Jean-Pierre Vidal won the gold in the Slalom while Sebastien Amiez came in a close second, taking home the silver. Alan Baxter (UK), another Scott-equipped athlete, came in third.

In freestyle skiing, Kari Traa of Norway showed her dominance in the moguls when she tore it up to win the gold using SCOTT poles and goggles. As the last skier down the course, Traa narrowly defeated U.S. skier Shannon Bahrke to claim her prize.

In snowboarding, neither Gilles Jaquet nor Ueli Kestenholz were able to find the success the were expecting. Gilles crashed in qualifying while Ueli didn't finish his first heat.
