GP12: LOMBARDY (Mantova) - Podium for Desalle and Ferrandis

Clement Desalle enjoyed in Mantova the podium celebration for the first time since eleven months, coming back from several injuries to offer to his team a nice podium. In the MX2 class Dylan Ferrandis got his fifth podium of the season, while Stephen Rubini and Thomas Kjer Olsen again won the European 125 and 250 races.mantova-desalle-gp12-170852It has been a very long way for Clement Desalle, as the Belgian rider, long time Scott Athlete got his last podium in Czech Republic end of July. Due to several successive injuries he missed the end of last season, and entered this one with another injury in a pre-season race. This podium had another savour for the Kawasaki rider. “It’s a first step to get this podium result; I have been waiting for it for a few weeks! The weekend didn’t start so well on Saturday, but with the team we were able to do better today, and that’s good to get this podium before the summer break. This weekend I got two decent starts and that makes life easier. It was not an easy weekend with the heat and such a rough track, but I never gave up to get this podium,” said Clement.Mantova-desalle-gp-12-170853In the MX2 class Dylan Ferrandis claimed his second consecutive podium after a tough weekend, as he crashed several times in race one and started in last position in race two. Coming back third and sixth, he finished third overall. "I was happy with my results on Saturday even though I crashed while leading, as a lapper didn’t move. But Sunday was not as good, and it is difficult to understand why. In the first moto my start was average but I had a good first lap and passed Herlings, but then I crashed twice; I came back and passed Pootjes but he took me out ! I was happy to come back to third. In the second race the gate moved but didn’t fall and I hit it, so I was late into the first corner. I passed almost the entire field to finish sixth; I had good lines and was one of the fastest riders on the track to get this overall podium.”mantova-ferrandis-gp12-170855In the Euro 125 Stephen Rubini claimed his fourth win of the season, and is now nine points behind the series leader. In the EMX250 series leader Thomas Kjer Olsen got another podium, and with a 75 points advantage in the series he can be crowned in the penultimate round of the series in Belgium.
