Those who find success there have the best built, most reliable motocross bikes and are themselves in peak physical condition. For this reason it makes sense that Team Pro Circuit took two of the three available podium spots.

Ryan Villopoto “wrung out” his Pro Circuit Kawasaki 250F in the first moto as he battled back from a 20th place start. Pushing himself and his bike, Villopoto was able to catch and pass his teammate Brett Metcalfe who, benefitting from a good start and excellent conditioning was in first place when he was passed.
In the second moto, Villopoto grabbed the holeshot and as the saying goes, never looked back. Metcalfe, working the track and every line available, made it into third behind Ryan Dungey. Metcalfe was able to hold third for the remainder of the race and Villopoto maintained his lead for the win. Team Pro Circuit showcased their superior machinery and well-conditioned athletes by securing first and third overall in the race.

The final round of the AMA Outdoor Nationals is this coming weekend at Steel City.

Hat Trick for Villopoto http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1485/hat_trick_for_villopoto Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:59:06 -0600 Last weekend at the Spring Creek AMA National, Ryan Villopoto won his third consecutive AMA Outdoor National Lites title. Villopoto left no question as to who should be champion; in winning nearly every moto this year, his points lead was so vast that he secured the championship with two rounds still remaining.

Villopoto’s winning ways began in his first full year of competition on the outdoor circuit back in 2006. Since then, he has continued to build momentum year after year, and has, in the minds of most people in the sport, moved past the competition and into a league of his own.
Fortunately for his fellow Lites riders, Villopoto will make the move to the premier class or MX class in 2009. There he will face off with another multi-time Lites champion, James Stewart. That will be one of the most anticipated matchups in years.

Scott Presenting Sponsor of the Spring Creek National http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1452/scott_presenting_sponsor_of_the_spring_creek_national Wed, 13 Aug 2008 17:14:08 -0600 Scott is the presenting sponsor for the Spring Creek Outdoor National taking place in Millville, MN this coming weekend. The Spring Creek round of the Outdoor Nationals series is a special event, as many up and coming amateurs debut their skills in hopes of impressing Pro teams and finding a ride.

Longtime Scott Pro Race Support Czar and well know motocross icon, Bevo Forti had this to say about Spring Creek: “With the intense heat, stifling humidity and deep sand, Spring Creek is a great litmus test to see if any of these amateurs have the conditioning and skills to race a Pro event”. Two such amateurs set to compete at Spring Creek are Scott- sponsored riders Ben Lamay and Vince Friese. Just two weeks ago Lamay and Friese finished up their amateur careers racing at Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National Championships. Scott is thrilled to be sponsoring the Spring Creek event and many of the young amateurs, like Ben Lamay and Vince Friese, who will be entering a Pro race for the first time.

Rebeaud scores Silver http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1451/rebeaud_scores_silver Tue, 05 Aug 2008 14:19:56 -0600 At X Games 14 last weekend, Swiss freestyle star Mat Rebeaud found out what he already knew; every jump counts. After disposing of Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg with an unassailable line up of flip-tricks and creative course adaptation in his semi-final run, Rebeaud looked to be on track to win his first gold medal at X Games. Not that it would be easy, as he faced Jeremy Lusk, who had also put on a strong showing on his way to the finals.

Unfortunately, what turned out to be Rebeaud’s Achilles heel was a straight jump in the middle of his run. Looking like he was setting up for a one-handed Superman Seat Grab, Rebeaud aborted the trick and ended up doing a straight air. He followed this with a flurry of technical flips and well executed tricks, but in the end it was not enough. Lusk executed tricks on every jump and barely edged out Rebeaud for the Gold. Rebeaud earned silver, his third in X Games competition.

X-Fighters Déjà Vu http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1448/x_fighters_dj_vu Thu, 24 Jul 2008 14:31:48 -0600 For Mat Rebeaud, the RedBull X-Fighters circuit is becoming redundant; show up, unleash a series of polished, technically difficult tricks and then smile for the camera surrounded by RedBull’s podium girls while hoisting the winner’s trophy.
Well, the pattern repeated itself at the X-Fighters round held in Madrid’s historical Plaza de Toros de Ventanas bullfighting stadium last weekend. The Swiss freestyle star held off all comers during the preliminary rounds and then bested Norwegian freestyle phenom Andre Villa to win another X-Fighters round. At this point Mat Rebeaud looks to be a shoe-in for the overall title with only two rounds remaining.

Rest assured that Rebeaud will show up for the German and Polish rounds with the same energy and style that has earned him three victories this season. For his competitors it must seem like a bad case of déjà vu.

Villopodium in Orbit http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1429/villopodium_in_orbit Tue, 15 Jul 2008 11:17:13 -0600 A rare combination of talent, determination and training has placed Ryan Villopoto so far above his competition that he is essentially in orbit. This past weekend he only moved further ahead of his rivals by absolutely dominating both motos at Budd’s Creek in Maryland.

Although Villopoto did not get the holeshot in either moto, he quickly moved past the riders in front of him to claim the lead both times. Once Villopoto had the lead he steadily increased it, cruising to victory seemingly without much effort. At this point it seems the only person who can beat Ryan Villopoto is Ryan Villopoto. His competitors’ next shot at disrupting his winning streak will be at Unadilla Valley Sports Center this coming weekend.

Red Dog Barks http://www.scott-sports.com/news/moto/1423/red_dog_barks Wed, 09 Jul 2008 11:05:02 -0600 After an untimely crash in the first moto dropped Tim Ferry from fourth to 23rd place, the Red Dog was fighting mad. In the second moto, Ferry took that aggression and used it to his advantage, going toe to toe with Andrew Short in a battle for second place. The two racers battled back and forth throughout the moto, each of them riding right at the edge of their abilities. Ferry, using experience gained through decades of racing, was able to finally put Short down and take second place behind unbeatable James Stewart.

Ferry has been extremely fast this season but has suffered from poor starts. His next chance for success will be this coming weekend at Budd’s Creek in Maryland.
