Welcome home Andrew Short!  Shorty was able to make his hometown race a success with 2-2 overall result.  Ivan Tedesco was nearly untouchable all day, grabbing both holeshots and leading start to finish. Andrew had some battles throughout the day, including an epic 2nd moto race with Scott gear and goggle rider, Tommy Hahn.  Tommy rode his 2010 SCOTT gear to an amazing 3rd place in moto 2 giving him 3rd overall in Colorado.  Chad Reed, still suffering from his stomach ailment, was able to salvage a 4th overall finishing with 3-7 motos.  Timmy Ferry returned to action this week, and will be back up to speed shortly. Monster Energy / Kawasaki also had guest off road star, and SCOTT goggle athlete Ricky Dietrich under the tent again this week.  Ricky rode to a solid 11-6, 7th overall.  It was a great day for SCOTT, placing 6 out of the top 10 riders!!!

In moto number one, Monster Energy / Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel, kept his moto 1 win streak alive.  Chris grabbed the holeshot and held off his teammate Jake Weimer for the lead for the entire moto. Tyla Rattray had a bit of a slow day for his standards, but was able to score a top 10 in moto 1.  Team Canidae/SCOTT rider Kyle Cunningham had a tough day as well, still fighting a broken finger.  In moto 2, Weimer grabbed the holeshot.  He had a bit of luck on his side as Christophe’s gate bounced when it went down, hitting him in the foot peg area under the bike and nearly causing him to fall as the rest of the field got away. However, Weimer decided to make it interesting, crashing out of the lead.  Weimer would not be denied this time however.  Weimer took the lead back from Barcia and that was it. Weimer took the win – his first ever moto and overall win.

Rebeaud Podiums at X-Fighters Texas http://www.scott-sports.com/news/motorsport/2071/rebeaud_podiums_at_x_fighters_texas Tue, 30 Jun 2009 9:30:26 -0600 June 28.2009, Forth Worth, Texas
The Red Bull X-Fighters stormed into Texas in front of 22,000 screaming fans who laid witness to the first ever double back flip in competition.  The 3rd round of the Red Bull X-Fighters displayed massive action on a massive moto playground; 4,200 m³ of dirt was used to create this Texas sized  course comprising 15 different kickers launching riders 15 meters into the air and 40 meters across the arena.

Scott rider Mat Rebeaud launched a solid defense of his 2008 X-Fighters victory in Texas.

The "crowd" looking at Mat Rebeaud's show!

After Cameron Sinclair threw 2 double back flips he was too injured to continue and Mat Rebeaud once again jumped his way to the final.

Rebeaud laid down a perfect final run against Nate Adams, an American rider who was definitely receiving tremendous support on US dirt.

In the end, Rebeaud took home the #2 spot on the podium and secured a solid hold on 2nd place in the overall Red Bull X-Fighters world tour. Mat is the only rider to podium at all three X-Fighters contests this season (Mexico, Calgary, Forth Worth).

Mat Rebeaud, second at the Dallas Red Bull X Fighters

The X-Fighters tour has 2 remaining rounds in Madrid and London.  Rebeaud's X-Fighters consistency could lead him to his 2nd consecutive X-Fighters title.

Columbia-Highroad Men's Team capture five TT-Titles http://www.scott-sports.com/news/bike/2069/columbia_highroad_mens_team_capture_five_tt_titles Mon, 29 Jun 2009 9:24:28 -0600 San Luis Obispo, CA June 26, 2009 - For the second year running, Columbia-Highroad's Frantisek Rabon (Czech Republic), Kim Kirchen (Luxembourg), Edvald Boasson Hagen (Norway), Bert Grabsch (Germany) and Marco Pinotti (Italy) have captured their respective countries' individual time trial titles.

The same five Columbia-Highroad riders also won gold in the same event back in 2008.

In Germany, World Time Trial Champion Bert Grabsch on the new Scott Plasma TT beat his Columbia-Highroad team-mate Tony Martin (as well on the new Plasma TT) by a narrow margin of just 10 seconds over a flat 40 kilometre course which started and finished in the city of Cottbus. "It was a big fight all the way, but Tony beat me into second in the time trial in the Bayern Rundfahrt stage race [in late May], so now it's my turn to beat him," Grabsch joked after taking his third German national time trial title in three years. event."

For the third year in a row and fourth time in his career, Columbia-Highroad’s Marco Pinotti has once again earned the right to wear the Italian national time trial champion’s jersey. Already the winner of the same event in 2005, 2007 and 2008, Pinotti’s third straight victory in the Italian national time trial championships came after he clocked a time of 39 minutes and 22 seconds for the 32.4 kilometre time trial. Fastest at all the time checks, Pinotti finished 19 seconds ahead of Gabriele Bosisio and 1 minute 9 seconds ahead of Maurizio Biondo.

Frantisek Rabon had to combat heavy rain in his successful bid for a second straight time trial title in the Czech Republic. "I was under pressure because of last year's win, some journalists said beforehand the race that as the big favourite, I should just get the gold medal and everybody could go home early. "But a lot of unexpected things can happen in bike racing, and the wet weather could have changed everything. Fortunately, though, I came through for the win."

Edvald Boasson Hagen took his third successive title in the Norwegian national time trial championships by a convincing margin of three minutes and nine seconds ahead of Kurt Asle Arvesen. The only rider to take less than an hour for the 49.2 kilometre course in Narbo, Boasson Hagen said afterwards that "I knew I was on a good day from the moment I started. Everything felt good, the weather was great, and it wasn't a tricky course, and that all meant I concentrated on going as fast as possible."

Impressions of Scott Product Launch http://www.scott-sports.com/news/bike/2068/impressions_of_scott_product_launch Mon, 29 Jun 2009 1:28:44 -0600 Scott Product Launch 2010 at Givisiez, Switzerland

Scott Genius 20 in a row, the TwinLoc System available on all Genius and Spark, adjusting shock and fork at same time!

In beginning of last week Scott USA was introducing the 2010 bike line to the US media people. As the US group did before, Scott Europe invited 45 editors of worldwide magazines to the Product Launch 2010 at Scott head quarter in Givisiez, Switzerland.

Along the five highlights TwinLoc System, CR1, Voltage FR, SUB and Plasma TT the editors got the chance to discover the entire Bike, Softgoods & Accessories product collection. The audience was listening, due to detailed and technical information at workshops by Product Managers and Engineers the editors were updated precisely.

A bunch of new CR1 SL, waiting for their testers.

To cut long stories short, the main part still was the test ride on the new products right afterwards. The editors got the chance to test the new TwinLoc System mounted on Genius bikes, CR1 and Voltage FR bikes, all on epic trails next to the Scott Company. The editors felt quite comfortable, along the bikes they were properly equipped and protected by Scott Bikewear, Gloves and Helmets. From head to toe.

Nino Schurter, XC Pro rider of Team Scott-Swisspower MTB Racing, set a new record on Scott's pump track up to 22 laps!

Timo Pritzel became a team manager. Marius Hoppensack, Simon Kirchmann and Peter Henke are listening to their mentor.

Along showing all products of course an event like this offers always the chance to introduce Scott’s great team riders to everybody. With lots of passion and energy all the guys were showing their incredible riding skills during these days, so a spectacular show on the Dirt track right behind the Scott building during an excellent BBQ was guaranteed. And yes, there was a new record set on the pump track with 22 laps, without pedaling of course, by Nino Schurter. Thanks to: Ben Walker, Timo Pritzel, Florian Vogel, Nino Schurter, Claudio Caluori, Holger Meyer, Marius Hoppensack, Simon Kirchmann, Peter Henke, Julien Fournier, Nick Beer, Fabien Pedemanaud, Aari Barrett, Vincent Ancelin, Thomas Tödtli, Dilan Dunkerton.

Ben Walker, went faaaaaast on the new Voltage FR, without gloves of course;)

Suicid No-Hander. Marius Hoppensack out in the Swiss forest somewhere on the new Voltage FR.

Hunting after Swiss rabbits? Fabien Pedemanaud from Team Scott11.

For all technical support while all test rides, a special tanks to our partners SRAM, Fox, DT Swiss and Shimano.

All in all, a great event by sunny weather did happen, and we’re looking forward to show the entire 2010 bike collection at Eurobike to you.

Luke Sets Course Record http://www.scott-sports.com/news/bike/2067/luke_sets_course_record Thu, 25 Jun 2009 17:41:40 -0600

We have been experiencing a lot of hot, sunny, humid weather here in Goto Fukue since we arrived on Wednesday and this morning we woke up to cloudy, foggy skys and cooler temperatures. The wind even came up a bit just to add to the mix.

I had a strong swim and exited with a group of five on the tail of Kieran Doe and infront of Cam Watt, Tim Marr and Hiroyuki Nishiuchi. Out onto the bike our group soon became three with Nishiuchi dropping behind. Cam Watt and I spent most of the time leading the group which remained together till about 140km when Cam layed the hammer down and broke away from Kieran and Tim.

Back to transition Cam and I went onto the run about 7 minutes ahead of Kieran and Tim and about 8 infront of Australian Courtney Ogden who rode really well solo all day. I felt great in the first 10km and went out a little too fast as the course gets harder each lap between to the 16 - 22km and 34 - 40km points. I built a steady lead on Courtney by the 15km point my mate Shane Smith was telling me 10 plus minutes. I didn't get a split again till around the 34km point and I tried to keep my pace around 2 hr 55 min mark therefore making Courtney or whoever was behind needing a 2 hr 47 min run or better to catch me. Shane finally pulled up beside me at 34km and said I had at least 15 mins on Courtney but this coincided with the last hilly section of the course and that mental relief that I had a good lead really hurt me. I struggled from that point on and my pace really slowed. I suddenly went from feeling great to having nothing in the tank. It was so good to see the castle where the finish line is located. Whit Raymond was yelling at me to break my last years course record and I had no idea if I needed to sprint? I sort of picked it up but definitely didn't sprint and found out I had gone 41 seconds quicker this year.

THE BIG PICTURE: BIG PEDAL

June 14, 2009 | THE SUNDAY TIMES

Brawn shares its brains.
With Jenson Button so far ahead in the Formula One World Championship that he barely needs to to turn up for the remaining races, it seems everyone wants a slice of Brawn magic.  That includes German road racer Bert Grabsch, seen here using the wind tunnel at the Brawn GP facility at Brackley, Northampshire for "rider optimisation testing"- in layman's terms, working ut how best to reduce wind resistance.  Grabsch, 33, rides for Team Columbia-Highroad, and will be competing today in the final stage of the Dauphine Libere road race in France.
