SCOTT Moto Athletes at the Oakland Supercross

Round 4 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series kicked off in Oakland, CA this past Saturday.  Overcast weather greeted SCOTT athletes as they arrived to the track.  Luckily for the riders and fans in attendance, the weather subsided and the track was primed for the action that was to come.

450SX Class

SCOTT goggle athlete Trey Canard came into the weekend feeling good after his podium finish last weekend at Anaheim 2.  Canard qualified from 4th in the 450SX timed practice and took that momentum into his heat race, finishing in 3rd behind series points leader Davi Millsaps and Ryan Dungey.  Unfortunately, in the main event Canard was involved in a multiple rider crash, leaving him in 16th on the opening lap.  Canard got up and began picking off riders as he moved his way through the pack.  By the end of the race Canard had worked his way up from 16th to finish just off the box in 4th.  Trey salvaged enough points to keep him in 2nd place in the 450SX points standings.

SCOTT goggle athlete Andrew Short's week began with his team announcing that they were pulling the plug and would have to withdraw from the series.  Not to be discouraged, Short and what remained of his team went to work getting a bike and everything else handled so he could line up on the gate in Oakland.  Short's day started a little slow in practice as he worked to get comfortable on his new bike.  By the end of the day Short found the magix again and qualified for the main event with a 7th place finish in the 1st 450SX heat race.  Short was able to miss the carnage of the second turn crash that claimed multiple riders; however, he was still mid-pack.  Short rode strong and consistent, finishing the main event in 6th place.  Short now sits in 6th in the 450SX points standings.

SCOTT athlete Matt Lemoine has been very consistent in his first season in the 450SX class.  The trend would continue in Oakland with Matt qualifying for the main event via an 8th place finish in the first 450SX heat race.  The good luck would end there as Lemoine was also a victim of the aforementioned crash in the opening lap of the 450SX main event.  Matt soldiered on and eventually found himself finishing the race in 18th place.  Matt sits 16th overall in the 450SX points standings.

250SX Class

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki race team arrived in Oakland eager for a win.  SCOTT goggle athlete Martin Davalos qualified for the main event via a 3rd place finish in the second 250SX heat race.  In the main event Martin got a slow jump off the gate.  Davalos didn't let that keep him down though, as he charged to a 4th place finish by the checkered flag.  Davalos now sits 7th in the points standings.

SCOTT goggle athlete Tyla Rattray started his race off with a 2nd place finish in the first 250SX heat race, setting himself up with a good gate pick for the main event.  Rattray wasn't able to capitalize on his start and found himself mid-pack after the first lap.  Tyla rode well and consistently but was only able to move into 11th by the end of the race.  Tyla now finds himself 10th in the 250SX points standings.

Next weekend the Supercross series heads back to Anaheim Stadium in CA for the third time.  See you next week!
