MOTOCROSS MXGP OF CZECH REPUBLIC 2015

27 July 2015

GP13: CZECH REPUBLIC

Desalle and Tixier back on the podium

Back racing after seven weeks off with a knee injury, Clement Desalle made an impressive comeback in Loket (Czech Republic) where he collected another podium finish with a third overall. In the MX2 class, Jordi Tixier also made his come back to the podium with a third position.MXGP-Czech-Republic-DesalleThe holeshot in the second heat, and his battle with World Series leader Romain Febvre were both highlights of the weekend.  Finishing the weekend with two third place finishes the Belgian was pretty happy to be back on the podium. “In one way I am happy about the weekend because I had seven weeks away from the bike and only rode twice before deciding to come here and it is a great feeling to be at the front. On the other hand I’m sad about the season because it started very good and I had everything under control. I came here to have a good feeling and I leave with that so I’m happy…especially with my holeshot in the second moto!” said Clement who finished behind Febvre and Bobryshev. Sixth overall with two sixth positions, Shaun Simpson remains seventh in the series.MXGP-Czech-Republic-SimpsonIn the MX2 class the big news of the weekend was the injury of Jeffrey Herlings, who crashed during the qualifying race and is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated hip. There’s now six riders fighting for the title, and current World Champion, Jordi Tixier remains in this race with another podium in Loket. “The weekend started well with the pole position in the timed practice session, but then in the qualifying race I crashed and opened a wound on my arm. Later I hit Jeffrey (Herlings) as he was on the ground with no yellow flags. I could finish only nineteenth, and after the race I went to the hospital to have stitches in my arm. In the first GP race I moved to second behind Max (Anstie) and we had good speed; I was pretty happy to finish in third place even though I lost a place on the final lap. In the second race I could never find a place to pass Jonass so I was a little unhappy with my riding, even if I’m finally back on the podium,” said Jordi who is now fifth in the standings, with five more GP’s at the calendar.

Next Grand Prix will take place in Lommel (Belgium) on August 1-2
