Say hello to Pieter. The Dutchman shot to prominence in the cycling world when he beat Andreas Klöden in an uphill finish to win stage eight of the 2005 Tour de France.

Pieter has spent his entire career to date with the Dutch Rabobank squad and comes to GreenEDGE with a wealth of experience gained at the world’s biggest races with one of the sport’s best-known teams.

He has ridden the Tour de France four times, the Vuelta a España on three occasions and the Giro d’Italia twice; it was at Italy’s national tour that he won his second grand tour stage, taking out the tough fifth stage of the 2011 edition in Orvieto and wearing the leader’s jersey for several days.

Despite still only being 30 years old, Pieter will be one of the guiding lights for the Australian squad in some of the season’s biggest races. He looks forward to embracing this new challenge.

Pieter calls the 12-years his spent at Rabobank to be a ‘true privilege’ and extends a sincere thanks to the opportunities given to him by his country’s biggest team.

"I look forward to being part of a team from the most exciting cycling country in the world. They can’t be producing so many great cyclists without doing something right."
