Introducing Simon Clarke. Like many in the GreenEDGE stable, Simon has spent plenty of time on the track early in his cycling career. He has ridden the boards at World Cup levels and boasts a junior World Championship title from 2004.

Simon is a product of the Australian Institute of Sport’s development policy that saw him spend three years with the organisation’s U23 program – – and gain the opportunity to race in Europe, where he proved to be a solid all-round rider.

His strengths attracted the attention of professional teams and after several frustrating years he landed at Astana this season, where he excelled in the Classics. He received the opportunity to reunite with management from the AIS when he signed with GreenEDGE.

With GreenEDGE’s ambition of being competitive in the Classics, Clarke will be a useful cog in the team’s wheel. Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix are calling for the 25-year-old Victorian, who looks set to enter the best years of his career.
"I spent six years with the AIS under Shayne Bannan, so returning to an Aussie set-up like that but as a professional team was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed."
