In true WSI fashion, SCOTT was on the podium at the Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival Ski Superpipe event.  This year it wasn’t superpipe specialist and Canadian Justin Dorey.  Dorey, like a lot of other pro skiers, is trapped in Sweden after the JOSS event thanks to an active volcano in Iceland.  That opened the door was for some ripping up and coming American and Canadian pipe riders.
SCOTT athlete and Park City resident, Joss Christensen, seized the opportunity and threw down a super clean 1st run.  Joss run went alley-oop flat 3 to switch 5 to switch right 9 to switch left 7, capped off with a right 9.  Joss’s stylish run put him in the lead heading into run 2.  Joss maintained the lead for almost the entirety of the 2nd run when Walter Wood came down with the run of the day.  Walter was clean and had amplitude on his side to help put him on the podium in spot #1.  Taylor Seaton rounded out the top three.

Joss Christensen takes his first major podium.

Another noticed rider for the day was Sun Valley’s own Tai Barrymore.  Tai is just 17 years old and pretty new to pipe competitions but that didn’t stop him from turning heads all day.  Tai was going massive and the crowd was taking notice. Tai’s second run first hit was a huge double cork 12 that almost went 14.  He didn’t stomp and missed the podium but took his massive hits to the rider judged high air’s where his doubles pumped up the crowd.

SCOTT would like to congratulate Joss on his first podium and let people know to look out for Tai Barrymore who goes simply massive.

Joss and Tai having another good day.
