Mădălina Florea takes the win in Noli

20 May 2025

The third stop of the 2025 Golden Trail World Series brought the world’s best trail runners to Noli, Italy, for a coastal showdown at Il Golfo dell’Isola Trail last weekend, a course as beautiful as it is brutal.

And once again, SCOTT Athlete Mădălina Florea proved she’s one to watch.

Racing in her go-to Supertrac RC 3s, Mădălina played it smart early on, staying tucked just behind the leaders before turning up the heat mid-race. By kilometer 14.5, she made her move - blasting past the lead duo on the climb to Vetta Capo and holding strong through a tough final descent. Despite dealing with stomach issues, she crossed the line solo in 2:22:29, taking her first GTWS win of the season and moving to the top of the series leaderboard.

“I had energy, but something felt off,” she shared with us at the finish. “I had some stomach issues but I managed to hold on until the end - I’ve been waiting since the 2023 final to win another GTWS race.”

A full-circle Moment in Noli

Florea’s return to Noli signifies more than just a race victory; it marks a personal milestone. It was here, in 2023, that she stunned the trail world by winning the GTWS Grand Final with no sponsor, no contract, and little media attention. That win launched her into the professional ranks.

Now racing with SCOTT Running, she delivered an even stronger performance - this time, as the series leader.

“This is where everything started for me,” Florea reflected. “In 2023, I was still discovering the sport. Now I’m racing for a top team, and I’m proud to show what’s possible.”

Florea tackled the rugged Noli course wearing the Supertrac RC 3, SCOTT’s high-performance trail racing shoe designed for aggressive traction and technical terrain. Its lightweight construction and precision fit made it the perfect choice for a race that demanded confidence on steep descents and loose coastal rock.

More SCOTT athletes in action

In the men’s race, SCOTT Ambassador Mattia Tanara delivered a solid effort on home ground, finishing in the top 30 with a time of 2:16. With one of the most competitive fields in the series so far, his performance reinforces the depth of talent on SCOTT’s trail team. The Golden Trail World Series heads to Zegama next weekend, one of the most legendary and fan-filled stops on the calendar. Florea will skip the race to recover and focus on her next appearance at the Broken Arrow Skyrace in the USA on June 22. Mattia Tanara will be back on the start line to represent SCOTT in Zegama.
