Nikolai Schirmer & Max Hitzig join the SCOTT Winter Team

20 October 2025

SCOTT Sports is thrilled to announce the signing of two exceptional talents to its Wintersports Team: Norwegian filmmaker and pro skier Nikolai Schirmer, and German freeride sensation Max Hitzig. These additions bring a dynamic blend of creative storytelling, technical prowess, and unyielding passion for the mountains, perfectly embodying SCOTT's commitment to innovation, adventure, and the pursuit of excellence in winter sports.

In the words of SCOTT's Sports Marketing Manager, Martí Pérez: "The pairing of Nikolai's narrative genius with Max's raw freeride talent creates a powerhouse duo for SCOTT. I am delighted to welcome them into the team."

Nikolai Schirmer: The Master of Ski Cinema

At 34 years old, Nikolai Schirmer from Norway stands as the undisputed king of content creation in the world of skiing. A pro-level skier with an eye for the extraordinary, Nikolai is equally renowned as a gifted filmmaker and storyteller. On YouTube alone, he boasts over 180,000 loyal subscribers. His breakout project, WAVY, remains one of his most successful YouTube endeavors, blending seamless skiing lines with evocative visuals that transport viewers into the heart of the adventure. Last year, he elevated his craft further by stepping into the cinemas with SKI: The Greatest Ski Tour of All Time (teaser). For the upcoming season, Nikolai will gear up with SCOTT Eyewear - including goggles and sunglasses - alongside helmets and protection gear, ensuring he stays sharp and safe while chasing epic descents.

Even when not in the mountains, Niko never stays still "I run the production company that documents my skiing, read a lot, explore science, politics and economics, do a little bit of activism, and also love surfing, climbing, beer and bikes." Looking ahead to 2025-2026, Nikolai plans to anchor his operations in Norway, launching a series of ambitious ski missions with a crew of friends and fellow riders. Early 2026 will see him venturing into the Swiss Alps, where he'll integrate SCOTT's latest innovations into his workflow.

“Skiing has been my main driving force and motivation since I was a kid. It’s the absurdly nice situation of having a perfect day in life also be a perfect day at work. You can really tell that SCOTT products are developed by people with a real passion for the mountains. A company is the sum of its people, and SCOTT has some high quality people. It’s an honor to join the team."

Max Hitzig: The Next Generation of Freeride Royalty

In stark contrast - and complementary brilliance - 23-year-old Max Hitzig from Germany emerges as one of the most electrifying freeriders on the planet. Already a Freeride World Tour (FWT) champion in 2024, Max has secured a Red Bull sponsorship and a reputation for lines that redefine what's possible in big-mountain terrain. His journey began at just eight years old, mentored by his mountain guide father. By 13, Max was honing his skills with the intensity of a true prodigy: "I knew I wanted to become a professional freerider one day. At 19, I made that dream come true" Max's meteoric rise continued with his 2022 debut on the FWT, where his bold, fluid style left an indelible mark on judges and fans alike. Drawing inspiration from, among others, SCOTT legend Jeremie Heitz. This season, he'll trust SCOTT Eyewear (goggles and sunglasses), helmets, backpacks, and protection to fuel his high-stakes charges.

After a sidelined 2024-2025 due to a shoulder injury, Max is charging back to the Freeride World Tour with renewed fire. He's dedicating long hours in the gym to strength sessions, building resilience for a campaign aimed at reclaiming the world champion title. "Being in the mountains gives me motivation to prepare, to train, and to work hard for my goals. When I look up at the peaks, I feel this drive to give everything" - Max declares. His return promises a season of jaw-dropping "sends" that will light up the tour and SCOTT's channels.

“My biggest inspiration comes from nature and the mountains. Being there gives me motivation to prepare, to train, and to work hard for my goals. SCOTT delivers top-level products in every category they’re active in -whether it’s biking, skiing, or trail running. The people behind live these sports. You can feel that passion in every product, and that’s what makes the brand so unique and convincing."

First week of Niko and Max as SCOTT Athletes

Last week, both athletes visited SCOTT's headquarters in Givisiez, Switzerland, marking the start of an exciting collaboration. The itinerary kicked off with in-depth product discussions alongside the SCOTT product managers, where Nikolai and Max shared insights into their needs on the slopes and behind the lens. The visit culminated with the duo headed to Saas-Fee for an impromptu ski session, producing thier first action shots with SCOTT against an iconic Swiss Alpine backdrop.

These moments not only forged early bonds but also set the tone for a season of boundary-pushing content and performance. Time to klick off the season!
