Switzerland's Alanis Siffert delivered one of the biggest surprises in recent long-distance triathlon history, winning the women's race at Challenge Roth in 8:09:09, a personal best by more than 30 minutes and a marathon split 12 minutes faster than she had ever run before. At just 24, she becomes the youngest-ever winner of the event and the second-youngest winner in the race's full-distance history.

"It's unbelievable. I still don't think I've fully realised what I've just achieved. Throughout the entire race, I felt like I was flying. The incredible atmosphere gave me wings, and I enjoyed every single moment out there."
"It was only during the run that one thought crossed my mind: I'm actually in a position to win Challenge Roth. But I stayed completely focused on my effort, one step at a time, until I entered the stadium. That was the moment it finally hit me. I did it."

A history-making performance
The build-up to race day had focused on a British showdown between Ironman World Champion Lucy Charles-Barclay and Kat Matthews. Charles-Barclay exited the swim with a commanding lead but lost valuable time in both transitions, while Alanis Siffert used a blistering bike leg to move into the lead by the 26km mark. She held that advantage through the second transition before extending it further with the fastest marathon split of the day, opening up a gap of three to four minutes by the latter stages of the run.

Alanis credited both her physical condition and mindset for the victory, explaining that she deliberately stopped looking at her power numbers on the bike because they seemed unsustainably high. She also said she approached the race determined to enjoy every moment of it. The result marks a major breakthrough for the young Swiss athlete, improving on her third-place finish at Roth in 2025.
After 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42.2 km of running, Siffert crossed the line in 8:09:09 — more than 30 minutes faster than her previous best at Roth — to claim her maiden Challenge Roth title.
