GP NETHERLANDS MOTOCROSS

10 April 2012
Double podiums for Scott riders
The 2012 FIM Motocross World Championship kicks off this weekend in Valkenswaard (Netherlands), first round of sixteen. For this opening round on a famous sandy layout, the MX1 class offered a great battle between three men who never gave up; reigning World Champion Antonio Cairoli won both battles, but both Clément Desalle and Steven Frossard proved that they will be his main rivals.
Sand specialist since he leaves most of the season in Belgium, Cairoli won twice but had to battle with Clément Desalle and Steven Frossard. “It was my first GP since my shoulder injury, and I didn’t focus on any of my rivals. I rode my own race, and I’m happy with this podium” explained the Belgian talent Desalle. Third in the sand was also a good result for his French rival. “My goal was to be on the podium here; I’m frustrated as I did too many mistakes during the opening race, but hopefully my riding was much better in the second period” said the Yamaha rider Frossard, newcomer in the Scott family.
In the MX2 class local hero Jeffrey Herlings was the boss, and none of his rivals was able to follow him. Teammates Joel Roelants and Tommy Searle both finish on the podium for their Pro Circuit Kawasaki. “I know that Jeffrey is too fast on sandy tracks, and I’m delighted with my results today. I trained more on hard tracks this winter, as I know that I can win races there, and for sure Bulgaria or Italy will be better for me” revealed Tommy who will be the main contender for the Dutch talent.
