MTB Worlds Calling on N1NO's Home Soil

07 setembro 2018
Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

N1NO Schurter is an Olympic Champion, a 6 time World Champion, a 6 time World Cup Champion. In addition, he has 30 World Cup wins to his name! On Saturday, N1NO not only wants to win his 7th Rainbow Jersey, he wants to give it his all in front of his home crowd and once more prove to the world that he is the dominating force in mountain biking: "World Championships on home soil is going to be a true highlight of my career. I hope I can deliver what everyone is expecting from me. All the preparation went 100% according to plan so far, which makes me confident to deliver on Saturday", N1NO says.

Nino Schurter's SCOTT Spark RC 900 World Cup looks pretty dialed for the World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Nino Schurter: "World Championships are going to be a tough one for me since I am being the one hunted, but this is not a new situation for me. I have to have a perfect run though and perform at my very best to keep guys like Mathieu van der Poel, Gerhard Kerschbaumer or Jaroslav Kulhavy under control. Especially Jaroslav Kulhavy, he is someone I always have on my list at Worlds- especially here in Lenzerheide.“

"I’m super familiar with the track here in Lenzerheide which I’m loving. My SCOTT Spark 900 RC World Cup is specifically tuned for this kind of conditions. Now having the World Cup Champion title under my belt and winning Gold with the Swiss team in the Team Relay is already something significant in the books. From now it’s all about defending my World Champion title“, Nino continues.

The Men's Elite race will take place Saturday, 3.30 pm CET. Athletes will have to race 7 laps; 4.2km per round (188m of climbing). Lenzerheide expects 15.000 spectators.

N1NO Schurter's Spark RC 900 Special Edition for Lenzerhheide

Nino Schurter rides one of the lightest, stiffest and fastest bikes available on the market, the Spark RC 900 World Cup. This 9.86 kg (incl. pedlas) race-dedicated full-suspension weapon is bred to win. For the UCI Worlds at Lenzerheide, SCOTT and Sram's designers worked together on a Swiss Army Knife style race design with tons of nice details.

The Cockpit

Nino runs a 90mm stem-handle bar combo. The Fraser iC SL has a negative rise of -25° to keep the handlebars really low. The negative combo maximizes the advantages of Nino’s aggressive riding position. The pedals are Ritchey’s WCS V6.

N1NO's cockpit is all about integration and optimiziation. The front with its Syncros Fraser iC SL stem-handle bar combo not only is a true eye-catcher, even more with its red and white design; it also saves a precious 49 grams. SCOTT's proprietary TwinLoc enables N1NO to lock both Shock and fork for better climbing. A smoothly integrated Syncros mount for his Garmin device tops off the overall look.

The Frame

The benchmark weight of 1779g (incl. shock and hardware) of the team's Spark RC 900 was not only achieved by utilizing the lightest and most exclusive HMX carbon fibers but also thanks to our sophisticated carbon lay-up process. The frame is made of 752 single carbon layers, all put together by hand. The heart of the frame is the Trunnion mount: the shock body extends between the two lower mounting bolts which results in more stroke for the same eye to eye length. The shorter shock enables a very compact frame and shock package, which integrates tightly to the seat tube.

1779gr for the frame (incl. shock & hardware), 9.86kg for the full package (incl pedals)- N1NO's rig is a benchmark in many ways.

The drive train

The SRAM XX1 Eagle Black Box 12-speed drivetrain moves Nino up the trail. Nino normally runs a massive 38-tooth chainring, depending on the course.

The standard is a 36-tooth though but in Lenzerheide, Nino chooses a 38 ring.

Brakes

Sram Level Ultimate disc brakes slow him down when it’s time to step onto the podium. Nino uses 160mm rotors on the front and rear brakes.

The Wheels & Tires

DT Swiss's super-lightweight custom-painted XMC 1200 Spline Carbon 29” is Nino's choice for Worlds. Maxxis provide the best rolling tires, Nino runs the Aspen 2.25 for minimal rolling resistance and best grip in Lenzerheide.

The Fork

Keeping the ride smooth, a 100mm Rock Shox SID World Cup Carbon RL3 Charger Black Box fork is paired with a custom 3-mode rear shock via our proprietary TwinLoc Suspension System.

Saddle, Post etc… :

The Spark’s saddle, seatpost, headset, bar stem, handlebar and grips are all from the Syncros stables
