In order to mount a front or rear light, we have already routed the cables in the frame, and there is no need for an extra battery – the power comes straight from the drive unit battery.

With this new E-Bike generation, the design has been pushed further than ever before. More than a battery integrated into the frame, we see the bike as a system where every part must be taken into consideration. Therefore, to improve the integration, we have worked a lot on the line continuity but also on the design balance from the headtube to the dropouts. Enjoy a bike with a unique character!

Com a selecção adequada de materiais, oitenta porcento do trabalho para criar um quadro está feito. Mas os restantes vinte porcento requerem a maioria do nosso esforço. Por esta razão, após a escolha das fibras de carbono mais avançadas do mercado, utilizamos ferramentas específicas, como software FEA(finite element analysis) de forma a mapear com precisão a direção e colocação de cada camada de fibra de carbono.

Com o software FEA, podemos simular a aplicação de diferentes forças num modelo virtual do quadro e ajustar a construção de forma a obter o resultado desejado. O software FEA permite-nos criar protótipos virtuais completos, incorporando todos os fenómenos físicos conhecidos que existem no mundo real.

Com a nossa tecnologia EvoLap, conseguimos modelar o quadro de forma a optimizar a área superficial, simular estruturas de tubos com diferentes orientações de fibras, observar os resultados de diferentes configurações e testar a distribuição de stress nas diferentes áreas do quadro. Graças a este extenso trabalho de modelação em computador, Nós’ optimizámos todas as camadas de carbono no nosso quadro. Quando as várias partes são fundidas nos primeiros protótipos, o resultado é um quadro super leve e compacto sem sacrificar a rigidez, comforto e resistência ao impacto. The bottom bracket area is exposed to flying rocks or other potential impacts, therefore we have developed our own specific skid plate, the “Impact Damper”. It is reinforced to handle impacts, is covered with a rubber layer to reduce noise and is ventilated to improve drive unit airflow.

Com o TwinLoc, o betetista pode controlar efectivamente o quadro, a suspensão e o amortecedor como um sistema. E porque é que isto é importante? Uma bicicleta com 150mm de curso, devidamente afinada, tem mais "sag" que uma bicicleta com 130mm de curso. Mas se esse curso extra, embora se transforme em diversão e mais controlo nas descidas, também origina mais "sag", ou seja, afecta a geometria da bicicleta e a sua performance a subir. É neste ponto que o TwinLoc importa.

O Twinloc ajuda a afinar o "sag" em diversos sentidos. Enquanto outros sistemas apenas aumentam a compressão a baixas-velocidades de forma a aumentar a eficiência de pedalada, o TwinLoc permite não só mudar o amortecimento na compressão, mas também muda a curva da mola, alterando por isso a geometria da bicicleta. No modo Trail, o amortecedor fica mais firme, mas também usa dinamicamente menos curso. O bloco pedaleiro fica mais elevado, optimizando o ângulo da bicicleta em subida, tornando a bicicleta mais ágil. Também existe um terceiro modo, o lockout, que torna as passagens por subidas e zonas planas mais eficientes.

As afinações únicas do sistema optimizam o comportamento da bicicleta em subida, mesmo as que têm cursos mais elevados. Conseguimos eliminar a sensação de pedalada "com curso longo" que rouba eficiência, mas não retiramos diversão ao uso dos 150mm de curso quando apontam a bicicleta para baixo. Seja numa competição, numa volta rápida, num BTT depois do trabalho, a facto de podermos mudar de modo de forma a nos adaptarmos ao terreno, criamos novas possibilidades para a disciplina Trail. 

BASIC CARBON E-BIKE CONSTRUCTION

What we wanted to avoid on the new Genius/Strike eRIDE Carbon was a tube which is cut underneath. By cutting the fiber, it’s harder to control the flex and the stiffness of the tube. 

 

SCOTT eRIDE POWER SHELL CONSTRUCTION

Thanks to the eRIDE Power Shell construction, Carbon fibers have not been cut as the tube is completely closed. It results in a stronger structure and allowed us to be lighter than a basic carbon construction for the equivalent stiffness. The space between the two shells is used to route the cables through the frame for a cleaner finish. No tools needed to remove the battery, open the lock and your battery is free.

For more stability and better handling, mass repartition is key on an E-Bike, this is why 52% of the frame kit weight is concentrated around the bottom bracket area. This zone is also the stiffest zone of the bike. Thanks to our carbon knowledge, we used clever layering reinforcement to match the drive unit constraints, while other areas like the top tube are lighter with fewer carbon layers.

With our mountain bikes, we try to achieve ultimate versatility. These specific models can switch from 27.5" to 29" or from 24" to 26" wheels with nothing more than the flip of a chip. No need to change the fork, all you need to do is flip a shock mount chip, change your wheels and off you go. The flip chip allows us to maintain a similar BB height when switching from one wheel size to the other which is key to keeping handling similar for both wheel sizes. 

The new Performance CX generation is now 48% smaller and 25% lighter compare to the previous generation. More compact but no less powerful, the new Bosch Performance CX Generation 4 comes with a maximum power output of 75Nm and 340%. Choose between 5 assist modes or opt for the comfort of the eMTB mode which automatically adapts the assistance like an automatic gearbox does in a car.
