Athlete talk

When and how did you start mountain biking?

I was often on my bike as a child. Fun and curiosity sparked my interest in racing. I rode my first local race at the age of 12. Since that first racing experience, I have been hooked.

Who was/are your idols on the trails?

A great idol for me is Nino Schurter. You can learn and benefit a lot from him. Personally, however, I have several idols from whom I try to adopt many helpful tips and tricks and apply them to my own skills.

What does mountain biking mean to you personally?

For me, biking is a multifaceted sport. It requires several skills that you have to master. Combining these and having fun with it is simply cool. If you can share this joy with like-minded people on a warm, sunny day in the great outdoors, it's perfect.

What excites you most about biking?

What I like most about biking is that you can ride really cool trails. You can always improve physically and technically. It is precisely this training process that drives me to get back on my bike every day.

How do you combine family/friends and your job?

Fortunately, my family has similar interests to mine. So it's easy to combine doing something together. I enjoy meeting up with colleagues and doing other things that aren't always directly related to sport.

What does "No Shortcuts" mean to you?

For me, "No Shortcuts" means no half measures. Either you go full throttle or you don't.
