Mădălina Florea Crowned Champion of the Golden Trail World Series

11 十月 2025

The 2025 Golden Trail World Series came to a spectacular close in Valle di Ledro, Trentino, where the world’s best trail runners battled it out one last time for the coveted GTWS title.
And after sitting at the top of the leaderboard all season, SCOTT Athlete Mădălina Florea rose to the occasion when it mattered most, sealing the title of Golden Trail World Series Champion with a performance worthy of her remarkable year.
Mădălina approached the Grand Finale with calm determination, wearing her trusted Supertrac RC 3. Under blue skies and perfect racing conditions, Mădălina Florea started strong, setting a fierce pace right from the gun. By the first climb, she had already opened a gap and continued to push hard, reaching the top of the course still in front, just one minute ahead of her closest rival.
But on the rolling, technical downhill section that followed, she took a tumble, allowing Lauren Gregory, known for her downhill skills, to move past. Despite the crash and lingering discomfort from what she later described as “maybe a bee sting,” Mădălina stayed composed, maintaining second place all the way to the finish line.
That effort was more than enough to secure the points she needed to be crowned the 2025 Golden Trail World Series Champion, a fitting reward for her remarkable consistency all season long.
I had a lot of pain giving me discomfort, maybe a bee stung me,” Mădălina shared at the finish. “It affected my performance a bit, but when you’re first overall, you can’t complain, you just have to enjoy it.

A season to remember

Florea’s second position in Ledro crowns a breakthrough season in SCOTT colors. Since joining SCOTT Running in early 2025, the Romanian athlete has been a model of consistency, collecting podiums across continents and proving herself as one of the most complete runners in the sport.

Her 2025 season highlights include:
🏆 GTWS Overall Champion – 2025
🥇 Il Golfo dell’Isola Trail (Italy)
🥈 Kobe Trail (Japan), Broken Arrow Skyrace (USA), Ledro Sky Trentino (Italy)
🥉 Jinshanling Great Wall Trail (China), Tepec Trail (Mexico)
🏆 ETC by UTMB (Chamonix)

Each race showcased her versatility, from the fast, runnable trails of Japan to the high-altitude climbs of the US Sierra Nevada, and her growing mastery of tactical racing.
Since joining SCOTT Running, Mădălina has relied on the SCOTT Supertrac RC 3, the brand’s pinnacle trail racing shoe engineered for precision grip, a lightweight feel, and total confidence on steep, technical terrain. It proved to be the perfect ally for the rugged ridgelines of Ledro, helping her push her limits when it mattered most.
With the 2025 season, Mădălina Florea has firmly established herself among trail running’s brightest stars and as a name destined to shape the sport’s future.

More to come

But her year isn’t over yet. In November, she’ll take on the Kolitza Trail in Spain’s Basque Country, aiming to break the one-hour mark and set a new FKT. Then in December, she’s heading to Chiang Mai by UTMB to race her first 50K, with hopes of securing a direct entry to the OCC at the UTMB Finals.
