The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) confirmed their support for Australian women’s road cycling at the launch of the 2013 ORICA-AIS team in Canberra.
Colucci, the 2010 Pucon champion and a 2012 London Olympian, finished in 4:04:12 and outsprinted Argentina-born Italian Daniel Fontana, the 2005 and 2011 Pucon champion, by 3 seconds. Chile’s Felipe Van de Wyngard took the final spot on the podium in a time of 4:08:43.
When ORICA-AIS missed the second significant break during the Australian National Road Championships, Gracie Elvin jumped to follow Sport Director Dave McPartland’s instruction to get across to the three riders up the road.
