GP10: France (St Jean d’Angely) - Double win in the European series

The future looks great for the young Scott Athletes, who dominate the European classes during the French GP, 10th round of the Motocross World Championship. Stephen Rubini and Darian Sanayei won both races of the 125 and 250 classes and are currently runner ups in their series.france-scott-gp10-157070Disappointed last week in Spain as he finally missed the overall win due to a penalty in the second race, young Frenchman Stephen Rubini got his revenge and was delighted to win both races on his home soil in the 125 class. “It’s so great to win at home, that was my goal to win here. The public put some pressure of course as they want to see us winning, but it helped me; I had two good starts and then had a good rhythm to win both races. I was of course disappointed last weekend when I had this penalty, but I remain confident coming here,” said Stephen who is now second in the series, thirteen points behind the leader.france-scott-gp10-157072In the European 250, American Darian Sanayei did his best performance of the season and also captured a double win on the French track. I rode this track a few weeks ago and, even if the conditions were totally different, I think that helped me to get a good qualifying result. It was awesome to hear the national anthem; it was my goal to win some races here in Europe this season. I was third at the start of the first race and I had some difficulties with my clutch but with the track conditions that wasn’t such a problem; it just made me ride smoother. I nearly got the holeshot in the second moto. I was second and took the lead at the second or third corner; after that I just tried to ride my own race, to stay strong and make a gap to my rivals” said the Bud Racing Kawasaki rider who is now runner up in the series behind Thomas Kjer Olsen. The Danish, also a Scott Athlete finished twice runner up and is now leading the series by sixty-three points with four more rounds to go.france-scott-gp10-157075In the MXGP class Belgian Clement Desalle got his second ‘top five’ result; team mate Jordi Tixier scored his first ‘top ten’ of the season with a ninth position, while Shaun Simpson had to skip the GP as he finally broke one bone of his hand in Spain last week. Crashing at the start of both MX2 races, Dylan Ferrandis came back home with a fifth overall for his last French Grand Prix as he will race in the US next season.

The championships will continue in two weeks’ time in UK, for the eleventh round of the series.
