Prado and Adamo win MXGP & MX2 FIM Motocross World Championships!!!

18 septembre 2023

It was an historic weekend of racing at Maggiora Park in Italy for round 18 of the FIM Motocross World Championship, with SCOTT riders Jorge Prado and Andrea Adamo winning the 2023 MXGP and MX2 world championships respectively.

MXGP

Two-time MX2 world champion Jorge Prado added a third world championship title to his ever-growing list of accomplishments after being crowned the 2023 FIM MXGP World Motocross Champion on Sunday. The celebrations started early as the Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing rider managed to secure the championship after winning the first moto of the day. He would finish the day on the podium with a second place overall.

Jorge Prado: “Oh what a day! It was a pity that I made a mistake otherwise I would have gotten the overall but hey I’m the new World Champion and it’s just amazing you know. It was such hard work the whole season and many people didn’t believe that it was possible but I believe in myself and I knew I could make it happened and here I am, the best of the year. I cannot ask for anything better, I enjoy and I am World Champion, I dreamed about that moment all my life”

It had been a long but consistent season for the Spainard throughout 2023, who looked strong from the start after he took the red plate right from the first race in Argentina. But it was not easy by any means, and Prado held off multiple challenges from the worlds top mx racers. In doing so, he won 10 RAM Qualifying Races, 14 races and achieved 16 podiums and 2 Grand Prix victories and 14 holeshots with one race remaining. All in all it was a truly unbelievable season for the long time SCOTT athlete.

Congratulations Jorge!!!

MX2

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Andrea Adamo was crowned 2023 FIM MX2 World Motocross Champion only hours after Prado secured the MXGP title. The twenty-year-old Italian went 3-3 on Sunday to take third place overall and secure enough points to win his first ever MX2 World Championship title with one round of the championship remaining.

Andrea Adamo: “What an emotion, I didn’t plan to win here in Italy because I was expecting to win it in Matterley, but today I did two good races. I’m sure that with a better start I could have fought with Simon (Laengenfelder) and Jago (Geerts), but today I just enjoyed the races and got 3-3 that was enough to bring me the championship. What a moment it was to win in front of the home fans too.”

It wasn’t until the 8th round of the season in Latvia that Adamo first took the red plate, and then had to fight hard right until the 18th round to ensure he had the points to clinch the title. The young Italian showed incredible maturity and mental strength to stay focused until the end and not let the pressure get to him. Throughout the season, Adamo achieved a very impressive 10 podiums, 4 Race wins and 2 Grand Prix victories.

Congratulations Andrea!!!
