SCOTT Athletes at San Diego Supercross

12 February 2013

The AMA Supercross series rolled into San Diego, CA for the 6th round of the season.  Track builders battled rain late in the week but thankfully the weather subsided and on raceday, the track conditions couldn't have been better.

450 Class

Trey Canard

In the 450SX class SCOTT athlete Trey Canard qualified for the main event with a 3rd place finish in his heat race.  However, Canard was unable to carry that momentum to the main event, where he found himself midpack off the start was only able to cross the finish line in 8th place.  Canard now slips to 4th in the points standings.

Andrew Short

Finishing right behind Canard was SCOTT goggle athlete Andrew Short.  Short had a great heat race and qualified for the night show with a 2nd place finish.  In the main, Short didn't get a great start and had to battle midpack, eventually finishing in 9th.  Shorty now sits 7th in the 450SX points standings.

Matt Lemoine

SCOTT athlete Matt Lemoine had a great night in San Diego despite his main event result.  Matt had the 5th fastest practice time in the seeded 450SX class and followed that up with a 5th place finish in his heat race.  Lemoine got a great start in the main event and was running as high as 5th.  Unfortunately, Matt was taken out by another rider and found himself in 17th place.  Lemoine regrouped and attacked the track, climbing back up to 13th by the checkered flag.  Matt is now in 16th in the 450SX points standings.

250 Class

Tyla Rattray

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit team was determined to get better results this week in San Diego after a dismal start to the series.  The PC riders were ready to come out swinging for what was to be the last 250SX West Coast race before the series goes east.  SCOTT goggle athlete Tyla Rattray was consistent all night and finished his heat race in 6th, qualifying him for the main event.  Rattray didn't get the start he wanted and had to work hard for an 8th place finish in the main.  Tyla sits 11th in the 250SX West Coast points standings.

Martin Davalos

It looked like SCOTT goggle athlete Martin Davalos was going to turn his season around after he won his heat race in dominating fashion.  In the 250SX main event Davalos got a great jump off the line and rounded the first turn in the top 3.  Unfortunately, a slight mistake would send the PC rider to the ground and to the back of the pack.  Martin charged through the pack and by the checkered flag, he had worked his way from last to 9th.  Martin now sits 6th in the West Coast points standings.  The West Coast series takes an 8 week hiatus while the East Coast series begins.  The West Coast series will resume at the Seattle Supercross in April.

Monster Energy girls

Next weekend the tour heads to Arlington, TX where the 250 East Coast series begins.  We'll see you there!
