Get ready for the 2012 Freeride World Tour finals in Verbier

22 March 2012
The Bec de Rosses in Verbier (CH), one of most intimidating mountain faces in Switzerland, is set to host the Freeride World Tour finals on March 24, 2012. Tension is rising as World Champion titles are at stake with no clear winner in any of the categories. More than 10,000 spectators are expected to attend to watch riders push the limits while trying the claim a world title.

This year the following SCOTT Team Riders have qualified for the finals in Verbier: Amacker Richard (SUI), winner of Courmayeur-Mont-Blanc 2012 currently sitting in 7th overall place, Stefan Häusl (AUT) ranked with a total point score of 4630 and 9th place overall and Kevin Guri (FRA), silver medalist of Fieberbrunn coming in at 10th place. Even thought they are not favored to win, all SCOTT riders have the opportunity to make a huge jump to the front of the overall ranking after strong performances.

On the women’s side Jackie Paaso (USA) is currently ranked in third place overall with total points of 5755. With a good run Jackie has a great chance to win the overall.  Jess Mc Millan (USA), sitting in 6th place overall, and Lorraine Huber (AUT), silver medalist of Roldal 2012, both won a wild card for Verbier and have the possibility to show their skills on the dauntingly Bec.

Besides the main event, the FWT Junior Finals will take place on a smaller face in Verbier. Almost 80 young riders between the ages of 14 and 17 years will be taking on the challenge. The fact that SCOTT will provide the overall men’s and women’s winner with a one year National Team Rider contract, makes these finals even more exciting. Fabian Lentsch is best example of how fast young riders progress through this series as Fabian was the overall FWT winner in 2011. Winning a wild card for Fieberbrunn, he emerged this year in his first elite contest with a solid run bringing him his first FWT points.

SCOTT will be on site with our truck in the event village in Verbier, presenting a wide range of next year’s winter products. People can also take part in different raffles/sweepstakes and take the opportunity to win a pair of SCOTT freeride skis, exclusive FWT Goggles or 6 Sets of the new Recon-Ready Goggle NAV-R-2 including MOD Live and Contour + cameras. Don’t forget you’ll have the opportunity to test the entire 2012/13 ski collection Saturday and Sunday in les Ruinettes, Verbier.

Be sure not to miss the pinnacle of the Freeride World Tour this upcoming weekend and check out the SCOTT truck located in the event village in Verbier.
