Athlete talk
What does skiing mean to you personally?
It’s been my main driving force and motivation since I was a kid. It’s the absurdly nice situation of having a perfect day in life also be a perfect day at work.
When did you start skiing and how have you evolved as a skier?
I started skiing when I could walk, and discovered modern ski culture with American and Swedish ski movies in the 2000s. From there I has a fairly normal trajectory of loving the park and then discovering big mountain. What was a little different with being from northern Norway was how we always ski toured to get to the lines (because there were no lifts, sleds or helis), so that was a focus since I was 13.
Who were/are your idols on and off the hill?
There are so many amazing skiers, but early on Jacob Wester was my big hero. I took a lot of influence from Eric Pollard, Pep Fujas and Chris Bentchetler in creating their own ski movies, while Jon Olsson was an inspiration just in terms of sheer volume of production. Right now there are almost too many amazing skiers to name, but I draw inspiration from every single one of them when I see a wild send pop up in my feed. Stoked to see the community is so healthy and motivated.
What do you get up to when you’re not skiing?
I run the production company that documents my skiing, read a lot, explore science, politics and economics, do a little bit of activism, and also love surfing, climbing, beer and bikes.
Outside of skiing, where do you draw inspiration from? Surf and skate has always been a huge influence, and then just movies and other culture in general.
What do you like most about SCOTT?
Martí and Hugues! No, but the team is essential as they are the people behind these products. You can really tell that SCOTT products are developed by people with a real passion for the mountain. People who understand that you can’t perform at your limit unless you have the best gear. A company is the sum of its people, and Scott has some high quality people, in all parts of development. It’s an honor to join the team.
What are your favorite SCOTT products?
I love the couloir helmet for it’s weight, ventilation and look, while I prefer the React goggle with AMP lenses as they provide the best performance in any conditions I might encounter out there.
