Wesley Sulzberger

Year of birth: 1986
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 65 Kg
Hometown: Tasmania, Australia

This Tasmanian comes from a cycling family that includes older brother, Bernie, and younger sister, Grace, all three of whom compete at the elite level of the sport. The family from Flowery Gully calls the Goss family neighbors, and Wes, Bernie and Matt Goss often chased each other on motor bikes around the Sulzberger family farm.

Wes credits brother Bernie with securing his first big break. Simon Gerrans, riding for AG2R in 2005, reached out to Bernie looking for a rider to fill a spot on his Herald Sun Tour squad. Bernie pointed Simon towards his brother, and Wes went on to play a critical role in Simon’s general classification win.

Two years later, the then 21-year-old posted a big result of his own when he finished second at the 2007 U23 Road World Championships. Now 25, Wes says his career has followed a steady development trajectory since the silver medal and believes that joining forces with GreenEDGE will allow him to produce results at the highest level of the sport.

Riders's Talk

"I'd love to take my first big win with GreenEDGE. It won’t be tomorrow, but down the track that's what I'm aiming for. I may not have the physical requirements to be a GC contender, but I'll be going for stage wins."
