To repack the airbag after the system has been triggered; simply push the button on the valve to fully deflate the bag and follow the folding instructions found on the airbag. The anodized small inflation system is safer and lighter for the rider.
The stowable airbag trigger is integrated into the shoulder strap for fast, easy access, easy manipulation and to minimize the risk of unvoluntary release.
Weighing in at only 1240g, the Aplride system is one of the lightest on the market.

The IATA (International Air Transport Association) declares safe travel as Alpride cartridges are just like the ones found in the inflatable life jackets on airplanes. The user is allowed to travel with 2 sets of cartridges for one pack. In 2014, the IATA has changed the existing rules, creating a special category for safety inflatable devices. The Alpride device perfectly adheres to these new changes.
The Alpride system uses the same type of air cartridges found in inflatable life jackets, the most dependable cartridges available.

ALPRIDE’S HISTORY: 3 ENTREPRENEUR’S – ONE GREAT IDEA
Winter 2008: After three days and just as many 4,000m summits around the mythic Concordia Platz set in the Swiss Bernese Oberland. Marc-Antoine Schaer came to the realization that the existing Avalanche Airbags on the market were much too heavy and therefore very limiting.
It was at this moment that his goal quickly became clear: “We should be able to build something lighter, cheaper and more user-friendly. If we manage to achieve this, more people will get the equipment and thanks to the accessibility of this new product, more lives will be saved!”
And so the Alpride adventure began…
Three entrepreneurs hit the ground running on the Alpride project. Their workshop, located in a small attic in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, becomes the theatre for many fears, frustrations, and ultimately joys, when a solution finally emerges.
While there is still much to be done, for the first time, the team of 3 is able to see a light at the end of the tunnel, reassuring that all their efforts and financial risk have not been for nothing. The Alpride system will provide the public with a product that is not only much lighter and more reliable, but also more affordable.
THE MOUNTAIN SAFETY VEST
Alpride successfully transformed the same technology found in inflatable life vest, a system that has proven its efficiency for more than 50 years, into an avalanche airbag.
BANQUE CANTONALE NEUCHATEL (BCN) INNOVATION AWARD
Alpride goes through round one, two, then three, and then eventually good news arrived: “You’ve won!” This award marks an important milestone for the Neuchâtel-based start-up, providing recognition, and accelerating the final phase to protect the Alpride system with three patents.
FINALIZATION AND RELEASE FOR ISPO 2013
The rest happens really quickly- contracts are signed, and eventually the first industrial production is underway. The workshop turns into a lab and gets endowed with professional equipment in order to do all of the TÜV tests internally and to enable device optimization.
"The AP 40 is the perfect companion if you are freeriding and mountaineering in high alpine regions.
It combines the safety of an airbag backpack, the lightness of the Alpride system, and the capacity for storing your complete equipment kit for touring on glaciers.
If you want to go big you deserve the best- with the AP40 you have just that.
Don’t head out without it!"
"The SCOTT AP32 is the first Airbag Backpack where I can’t feel any difference from a normal freeride pack.
It feels as though you are riding without an airbag.
This is why I use it every day. Additionally, all of your equipment is very accessible so that you can grab hold of what you need, when you need it."
"My SCOTT AP 24 backpack is my top choice for Freeride competition.
It's everything I want in an airbag- lightweight and has enough space for the essentials.
It's another valuable tool in my avalanche rescue kit."
"When the Ski Patrol at Chamonix trusts the Air Free AP 32 as part of their official wardrobe, you know it’s built with an unmatched level of quality construction and safety. A completely new inflation system and lightweight technical design makes this the next generation of avalanche packs."
HOW DOES THE SCOTT ALPRIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM WORK?
It’s a cartridge inflator system that inflates the airbag.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES COMPARED TO THE OTHER EXISTING SYSTEMS ON THE MARKET?
The Alpride system is extremely light and the cartridges are more affordable than the competition's products.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INFLATE THE AIRBAG?
Less than three seconds.
ARE YOU ALLOWED TO TRAVEL WITH THE AIRBAG AND THE CARTRIDGES?
Absolutely no problem. the IATA ( International Air Transport Association) declares cartridges with less than 200 bars as not dangerours. The Alpride cartridges are like the type used on a life jacket. You are allowed to travel with 2 sets of cartidges for one pack. ( for more information, see : www.iata.org)
HOW MANY TIMES CAN THE CARTRIDGES BE USED?
Just one time
WHERE CAN THE CARTRIDGES BE PURCHASED?
You can buy them in stores where SCOTT packs are sold.
WHAT KIND OF GAS IS IN THE CARTRIDGES?
C02 and Argon
IS ARGON DANGEROUS?
No, not at all. Argon is a noble gas that is used in diving as well as in the food industry.
HOW MUCH PRESSURE IS IN THE CARTRIDGE?
HOW SHOULD THE CARTRIDGES BE STORED?
In a place that is protected from direct sunlight.
HOW LONG ARE THEY USABLE FOR?
There is no expiration date. You can use them as long as the weight of the gas is in the range of - 10% of the nominal weight (printed on each cartridge), meaning at least 10 years or more.
AS THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT CARTRIDGES, DOES IT MATTER IN WHICH POSITION EACH CARTRIDGE IS INSTALLED?
Each cartridge has its own screw thread size, meaning it will only fit in its intended spot.
ONCE INFLATED, HOW CAN THE SYSTEM BE DEFLATED?
Just push the valve flap on the inflator to release the air.
IS THERE A PROPER WAY TO FOLD THE BAG BACK INTO THE AIRBAG POCKET?
Yes, the side parts of the airbag have to fold towards the top and the rest is folded like a “Z”- it is quick and easy to do. The proper procedure can be found on the airbag.
HOW IS THE AIRBAG INSTALLED?
1. Open the backpack
2. Slip the handle into the shoulder strap and fix the handle
positions with the plastic clip on the webbing.
3. Take out the airbag from the inside through the hole into the
airbag pocket. Open the zipper of the airbag pocket outside
4. Connect the four hooks of the airbag to the backpack
5. Get the zipper slider of the airbag pocket on the right side and
close the zipper with the airbag put in
6. Fix the inflator with the Velcro strap and put the mesh cone over
7. Screw the cartridges in.
8. Ready to use.
HOW DO WE REACTIVATE THE SYSTEM ONCE USED?
1. Deflate the airbag
2. Fold the airbag back into the airbag pocket
3. On the inflator, screw the spring back so the indicator is no
4. Replace the cartridges
5. Ready to use
