Dangerholm’s Favorites

25 października 2022

Sweden 2022. Our offices received a visit from a special guest: carrying a sharp knife in his hand - for shaving paint from carbon naturally - and a stomach hungry for the most exclusive, blinged out bike parts - you know him, you love him Mr. Dangerholm himself. This time however, Gustav came to revel in the details of the mid-range bikes and see their beauty first-hand as they come straight from the shelf and out of the box. He shares with us his top picks of the season.

“While many people know me for my custom bike projects, such as building the world's lightest mountain bikes, not that many know that up until very recently I'd been working in a bike shop pretty much all my life. That's what allowed my passion for bikes to grow, and where I learned how to both service and tune them.
At the age of 14 I started working in the workshop, going there in the afternoons after school. As it happens, this small-town shop in Sweden called Johns Sport was one of the first SCOTT dealers in the country. So, I've been around SCOTT bikes since forever, spending my days assembling, selling and servicing everything from entry level Aspects to fancy Sparks.
Later on, I ended up being responsible for ordering bikes to the shop, meaning I got to go to the showroom at SCOTT Sports Sweden every autumn and see most of the bikes up close for each year's lineup.
And there can be a huge difference on how a bike looks when seeing it with your own eyes, compared to seeing a catalogue photo of it - regardless of how good the photography is. The way colors come to life in the right light and other small details can make a good-looking bike in a photo become a great looking bike in real life.
I started posting some of my favorite bikes each year on social media, just to highlight bikes that might go unnoticed in a catalogue or on the website but look incredible when you get to see them.
There's also so much focus on the top-level models in general, that it's easy to miss some real gems sitting a bit lower in the range.
So here you go with some of my favorites from the 2022 lineup, and with a little luck you might be able to have a look at them yourself if you visit your local SCOTT dealer."

Contessa Spark 920

What. A. Surprise!

In most photos this bike looks to be a nice plain purple, but it's painted in one of the craziest color shifts I've ever seen. Going from warm golden tones to sharp metallic purple, it's a looker for sure. And with super minimalistic graphics along with a stealth black kit, it just couldn't get much better.

The Spark 920 is also a lot of bang for the buck, with its fantastic Fox suspension, carbon fiber main frame and solid drivetrain.

Addict 30

A real sleeper in the new Addict lineup, the very attainable Addict 30 is not just a great bike but it also looks as if it were twice the price.

What looks like a rather basic black and red paint scheme at first glance, is in fact a super cool and classy design. It's not black but clear coated carbon fiber, which shimmers and shifts in the sun, with a candy red front along with some metallic flakes. Clean, timeless, and you can see similar designs on some 2023 models.

Spark RC Team Red

Another positive surprise from the paint design department. A solid racing red with stealth logos can't go wrong, but what first looks to be just some orange is in fact a super cool pearl effect. Depending on the light and point of view, it's either almost invisible or it comes to life shimmering in golden orange tones.

The all-black kit is a winner once again, and the bike is a great option in itself too. With a full carbon frame, good suspension and even carbon cranks you have everything you need for both racing, training, and fun.

Okay so the Ransom eRIDE is one of my personal dream bikes, although I unfortunately don’t have one myself. Yet!

This bike is an absolute monster truck, which will turn your local hill with no lift into a proper bike park. The 920 comes with a solid kit and a super stylish grey tinted clear coat look on brushed aluminum.

Let's not forget about the future pros! I wouldn't even be able to imagine SCOTT's junior lineup when I was a kid myself, but it's something quite incredible.

A highlight for me is the Ransom 600 with its gloss clear coat on brushed aluminum. A couple of years back this was the most popular look for the full-size Ransom's, so you'll be getting thumbs up from all ages if you're riding this bike.

Also, if you ever get tired of it - it's a perfect canvas for you to do a sticker bomb design of your own!
