As a love letter from Gravel to the World, Safa and Alex set off from their home in Los Angeles up the coast to Big Sur. From the car, the duo struggle against a monster, dusty climb to make it up to the ridgeline. Here, following a lumpy north-to-south road, they’re treated to gorgeous ocean views before descending Nacimento Fergusson at sunset and following PCH back to the car. It’s a demanding loop that takes the pair all day but rewards with views and fun descents.
It’s up to Brian and Alex to bring everything they need for these all-day adventures. These are fully self-supported, meaning that they are travelling not only with all the water and food needed for a big day on the bike, but also hauling along the camera gear and drones needed to share it with the world. It means that some of the big climbs they plan are just that much harder.
