The Grand Finale!

05 October 2015
After seven rounds in seven countries across three continents, the Enduro World Series has come to Finale in Italy for its eighth and final race of the year.
The last round consisted of two days, 6 stages, 106km, 4,330m of descent and no lift access.
For this last EWS fight, the whole team was here:
  • Rémy Absalon, consistent all year, has proved his good skills both on physical and technical trails.
  • Elliot Trabac, trying to catch his fourth podium in U21 category on EWS.
  • Rudy Biedermann, happy to ride this race after his injury.

sr-suntour-ews-finale-lugure-133432 Last weekend’s race at Zona Zero saw a stage cancelled because of torrential rain and flash flooding and the weather had a part to play in this weekend’s race as well. After a big storm and heavy rain, the organizers decided to cancelled the first stage on Saturday.

Day 1

Stage 2 was the longest and hardest of the day with long pedaling sections. Stage 3 was more downhill-oriented and after the storm, the rocky and technical track made it challenging for the racers. Finally, the famous stage 4, so aptly named "DH-Men" added a bonus sea view.

Rémy began well with a top ten in the physical second stage. He kept going in stage 3 staying in the top 10 and finally did some mistakes in stage 4 that moved him to 13th position at the end of the day.

Elliot made no mistakes and stayed consistent all day long. That allowed him to finish the day in third position in the U21 category (48th overall) just behind Adrien Dailly and Neïlo Perrin- Ganier.

Rudy’s batteries were a bit low but felt very good about his bike and was happy to ride after his injury. He came in 79th position.

Day 2

The long 5th stage was elected unanimously by our 3 riders as the most beautiful of the weekend thanks to its variety. It had a good mix of technical and physical parts. Stage 6 was only defined as...the last of the year!

After the rain, the 2 last stages were more muddy. Our guys had to watch out for slippery roots but they gave all they had on this nice dirt with good berms.

Rémy performed well taking 9th and 8th on these stages, respectively,  finishing 10th overall!sr-suntour-ews-finale-lugure-133436Unfortunately, Elliot missed the podium by 2 seconds and concluded the weekend in 4th position just behind Adrien Dailly, Neïlo Perrin- Ganier and Sébastien Claquin. But the season ended on a high note for him with a 3rd position overall for the U21 division.

Rudy finished the weekend 85th.

Rémy, Elliot and Rudy are close to the end of the 2015 season. Next and last step for Rémy will be Mégavalanche in Reunion Island.

You can also meet Rémy and Elliot at the Roc d'Azur next weekend. They will be pleased to see you all there. And of course, you can still follow our 3 riders on Facebook and Instagram.
