Martin Davalos steps up in St.Louis
St. Louise SX 2014
Scott athletes went to work Saturday night in the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO for round 13 of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. The big story of the weekend was the long awaited return of Muscle Milk Honda rider Trey Canard, who put himself out of the series with a preseason injury just weeks before the first round. Trey came out as if he never missed a gate drop and qualified directly out of his first heat race to the main event. Canard put in one of his signature consistent rides and collected a 5th place finish in his return to Supercross. With just a few lands left, don't be surprised to see him battling up front for a podium spot.
BTO Sports WPS KTM athlete, Andrew Short won semi race 1 and battled his way to an 8th place finish in the main event. Short is currently 7th in the 450 point standings. The 250 East lined up for its last round before we head back west.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Martin Davalos came in with a narrow points lead after his teammate Adam Cianciarulo suffered a season ending injury in the last round. Davalos had a nearly perfect weekend in St. Louis, rising to the occasion as the series points leader. After qualifying with the pole position through practice, Davalos lined up for the second heat race of the night and took the win, sending him directly to the main event. Martin rocketed out of the gate to grab the holeshot and never looked back as he led every lap to ride away with the main event win.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Blake Baggett had to charge through the pack from way back to secure the final spot on the podium with a 3rd place finish. He is now tied for 3rd place in the points standings. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders Dean Wilson, Justin Hill and Darryn Durham return to action in Houston April 5th in Houston, TX to work out the championship points chase in the 250 west.
